Yes, Euston and Glasgow drivers sign as far as Preston. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- For the LM stopping WCML services - again it depends. The allowed crew change points for driver and/or guard are New Street, Coventry, Rugby, Northampton, Milton Keynes Central and Bletchley...

I was bars/Chick n Kebab/Harry Ramsdens from June 2001-September 2002. I was stunned to see CNK had gone. When I was there, Pizza Hut was called Pinewood Studios.

the Operation of Vacumn brakes on early ( pre 90s ) Diesel locomotives

The smell always reminded me somehow of mushrooms. I've only smelt it on an HST braking for a stop at a station, and once about 6 months ago when my driver missed an AWS cancellation (expected a bing instead of a bong) and the brakes dumped in 'the lot' from 110mph!!! There was a lot of dust...

Otherwise known as the Somerset levels. For the record, before admin close the thread, I had a lovely ride both ways, with 1st class being done with a nod, a smile and a flash of my LM staff badge in with my ticket. Good job too, the train was rammed both ways. Decent HST both ways - first...

Thanks, but there's no need. One of the boys is coming up from Newquay and intending to hit Taunton around 1400. I get there 1258, so go into town for a trip down memory lane, (I worked at Butlins in Minehead for 18 months, so know Taunton reasonably well) a pint and a bit of lunch before he...

    "Operational Incident", Wembley Down Slow

That was typed with my tongue very firmly in my cheek, purely for the benefit of applepie who has now gone very quiet.

    Impressive Pendolino run

Oh, thanks for that. Pretty interesting!! Hanslope is the junction that gets me, it feels terrible at speed!!!

    "Operational Incident", Wembley Down Slow

NOthing wrong with any of those. I once apologised for passengers having to travel to Birmingham and told them they had my deepest sympathy for having to go there. Didn't go down too well, that one.

London Midland Trainee Senior Conductor application process.

Maybe they do, but if you moved closer to one of the depots that seem to take on more regularly, (New Street, Coventry, Northampton, Bletchley) you'd be well inside that, then you just start banging the applications in. Or you apply to a depot that's out of range for you but put on the...

    "Operational Incident", Wembley Down Slow

I don't hold my passengers in conptempt at all. Those that know how to run a railway just because they've been a passenger a few times however, are a different matter. Not doing too bad at all as of late. Having been told I'm a disgrace to the union because I don't agree with another...

London Midland speed between on stopping trains

Yes. It's the xx:13 off Euston, a Birmingham service. Although it should be a 110mph unit in theory, /1's, /2's and /3's all turn up on it. I did the 0813 off Euston on Thursday, that was a 12 car formed of three /1's and it did acheive the full 110mph. --- old post above --- --- new post...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

Christ, I wouldn't want to be one of the agency OBS's walking into a messroom full of ex-conductors. Awkward........

    "Operational Incident", Wembley Down Slow

True story. I had them ring me up once fretting about a two minute delay that I'd made up three stations later........

    Impressive Pendolino run

There's a cracker on the up from Coventry in the mid afternoon - we use it as a positioning train to Euston for the next working. If you miss LM's 1521, (booked on it) the next one through 1 is this Virgin train. Hammers up to Watford - it's a Voyager that gets shown absolutely no mercy. ---...

    "Operational Incident", Wembley Down Slow

A safety mechanism brought the train to a halt and there will be a delay while the cause is investigated and any remedial action necessary is taken That means "someone cocked up and we've got to decide who is going to be shot tomorrow if it's applepie you're explaining the delay to.
