They’re running eight car services on the Southport line today. Would that be some sort of testing or related to capacity demand? I rode one from Moorfields at around 2pm and it wasn’t busy.
I notice beside me on this SWR train I’m travelling on that there is a socket for laptop chargers only, next to my seat. Is there any reason why it might not suit a mobile phone charger, if indeed this is the case? It seems a bit odd that the socket would be for so specific a purpose. I can...

I noticed 8 car stop signs have gone up around the Merseyrail network. Obviously for the new class 777s. But I was wondering why they are on striped boards rather than the fairly straightforward smaller ones showing 3,4 and 6 car stopping points.
It’s great living next to the Southport line. I can look out of either side of my house and watch them go past. They even rumble distinctively compared to the 777s.
I’ve seen 507001 alone passing Freshfield at high speed twice this morning. Heading south both times. What would be the reason for this? It appears the train has gone towards Hunts Cross and then done it again. Would this be from changes of plan on its use?
