RailSail Irish Rail issued ticket - valid on Tube?

You seem like a reasonable guy. :p But now you know that (apparently) this particular type of ticket is valid, would you let it through?

Well, not quite - he/she didn't even get a majority!

    Eurostar Connection?

Well, if you were travelling on a Saturday or Sunday, the 08:57 to Brussels gets you in to Berlin at 21:34. (Unfortunately, Mon - Fri you have to leave at 08:27). As I'm sure you know, you just have to play around with the connection time in Brussels to make sure it connects on to an ICE...

    Eurostar Connection?

What kind of ticket have you got? Going to (nearly anywhere) in Germany is usually cheaper and probably quicker via Brussels.

    Travelling to Salou By Train

I don't know about prices, but the quickest way would be Eurostar to Paris, followed by the new cross-border TGV service from Paris to Figueres (there are two trains a day), which connects directly into a Renfe Altaris train to Barcelona. From Barcelona there are several trains a day to Salou -...

    Fare Dodgers!

Would you like to explain what you mean by that? 10%/50%/90% don't "take paying for their fare seriously"? All these generalisations do is to exacerbate the "us" and "them" syndrome, and consequently they are completely counterproductive. Passengers are your customers, so treat them as...

    Trans-manche metro

Why not? You're talking about a journey of, say, 100 - 120 minutes. Lille and its surrounding area is not one of the richest areas of France. (Although it has improved significantly as a result of high-speed rail links). Think of it as a Chiltern Railways service with extra security. :)

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

There are some very imaginative dishes there. They're not too complicated, so it shouldn't be too difficult to match the delivery to the presentation. Hopefully, it will mean that Virgin will have to up its game.

Never fall asleep and miss your stop again!

Hi Statto, I'm not preaching or criticising or anything, but it's "necessarily". It just glares at me big and red in your signature every time you make a post.:p

Never fall asleep and miss your stop again!

Anyone else spotted this? I wonder if there is one yet (or in the pipeline) for National Rail. :p

Great, thanks for reporting back. Always interesting to find out what happened on these meets after all the build-up. :)

    Spitfire Tours - The Welshman

I'm amazed at the venom aimed at the OP by many in this thread. He may be over-enthusiastic, but his posts are completely harmless - unlike several others, at which a moderator's ire might be better directed.

That's really good. How much does such a connection cost?

    another Caley question or two

On CityNightLine sleeper services, the sleeper supplement (which can be booked online on DB) is refundable (less 10% administration charge) up to the day before departure.

    Slow Internet speeds

It's seems I'm quite lucky with a 20.35 down, 2.62 up (B+). Doesn't seem that fast. (Not as lucky as Geezertronic, clearly).

    Daily Mail tube map

Not having been on one of these in London, I'm a bit baffled by this. Can someone tell me why they are so reviled in London, when they are (in my experience) such an efficient and convenient transport mode in many cities on the Continent?
