    I read somewhere there was talk on reinstating the north/west chord just north of Shotton station. This would enable Holyhead to Cardiff services omitting Chester. This would improve journey times on this route.

    Crick have it right, OHLE on the arrival and departure sidings only. Trafford Park is the same. The ports need to have OHLE on the arrival and departure lines.

    The Far North line could run with a converted carriage to take goods to the likes of the co op, Pets at home, B&M in Wick at a sensible price. This would be some extra revenue for the line. The restocking could be on the roll on/off cages.

    3rd rail is not the answer dont forget Padeswood cement works if OHLE is installed once the line from Wrexham to Newport is electrified. Then the freight can use electric traction.

    There must be a lot of disused properties that could be re tasked for GBR to use. Network rail used to advertise them. This would save them a lot in rental costs.

    A possible route would be to restore the North/West chord just north of Shotton high level and link it to the Holly-head line. Most of the earthworks is still there.     On any of the transpennine routes if there is a large blockade O/H line equipment should be put in after a few years it will all join up. Hope valley comes to mind!
