TfL to take over most, if not all London suburban services

Let the speculation begin! Bromley North to Highbury and Islington.

    Diesel driving question

Personally I find the professionals' views on here incredibly interesting - it's a great forum to get your side of things across, and has educated me no end about the logistical difficulties faced. Now when I get friends and work colleagues complaining about train related things, such as short...

    LED Signals

That's fair enough although I can't see ETRMS being implemented in the SE network this century. Can LED lights fail in such a fashion?

    LED Signals

Would a green and yellow combination improve this situation? What would be the pitfalls of using this instead?

Problems in the south east this morning Jan 8th

Agreed, although I would miss the firework displays that 3rd rail occasionally treats us to.

Is the end is nigh for class 442*

God, yes please - just so I never have to sit in a Networker ever again.

Manchester United Football halt station 'closed until further notice'

And of course, Watford Vicarage Road will be opening next year (?)

Class 373: My ideas for life after Eurostar

I don't care how poorly they perform, they sound fantastic at full pelt!

    Train Driving and Automation

I'm completely in favour of ATO as it will mean the drivers can dedicate their time and expertise to the more important issue of having the air-conditioning running at the right temperature!

    Southeastern 375 refurbs

We can only hope - those seats are about as comfortable as a park bench

Trivia: UK rail line with best case for closure

I'd like to propose London to Dartford via Woolwich Arsenal as no one who uses this line has a bloody ticket.

    Eurostar e320 / Class 374 "Velaro"

Saw it belt past me on the Medway Bridge on Monday on the way to work. So so quiet compared to its predecessor.

    List of PERTIS Machines

Aylesford still has one but the one at Barming has now gone since the ticket machine went in last month.

ERTMS - let's get on with it

Just an opinion but there seems to be a lack of motivation to "get on with it" as franchises have their own agendas. Perhaps a nationalised railway would have pushed this on as a solitary force?

Rail TV Programmes - Portillo v Tarrant.

Loved the Japan one and makes me want to do a full on Shinkansen tour of the country even more. Once I've won the lottery. The railways in the north looked very interesting as well - the single car DMU through the snow and mountains looked like an extreme S&C!
