    Worksop Freight Yard

Yep me! I work at HNRC & been spending a while here, and all this week. Getting rebuilt as a working depot. Fencing is phases one, and to make the site secure to keep the chav patrols out. Bits of line getting lifted is being replaced, as roller coaster track isnt good for the customers, infact...

    GBRF livery for 2 Class 50s (50007 50049)

I was born at Doncaster in 1980 & lived 5mins walk from the station until 1984. My first memories (as 3 or 4 year old) was going down the subway at Donny & hearing the old BR triple dong announcement on the tannoy & being petrified by the screaming valentas, but at the same time fascinated. Can...

How much does it cost to power a train?

Horses for courses with engines. More friction & thus wear with small engines versus large. There's a reason cars with 4k revs 1 liter petrols fall apart at 120k miles v 300-400kmile 2k rev diesels (mines currently at 315k miles).

To you, when did Britain stop being "Great"?

A very interesting read through all the comments. Whilst on the subject of 'colonialism' & of times past, poverty & all the rest, i found this a very intriguing watch that ties into the 'colonialism' aspect. Any thoughts? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TFC18pFvo1g

Class 37 - How long can they really last

New is great for 'showboating' (look at my nice shiny new loco). Its not good for business when the cost of new exceeds the money it generates.

Disused or mothballed railway lines with track still in place

The 5mile branchline from Scunthorpe steelworks to the docks at Flixbrough. I ma have been one of the last to traverse a small section of the line in an 08, as i work for HNRC & we recovered the last 2 08s that worked the docks in May2014. I recall it just looked like the 08 was going through a...

    Should We Leave the EU?

Firstly, don`t look at what either side promises you, whether it be "a return to sovereignty", or "less terrorism risk". That`s all lies and propaganda. Look at past history, because how they work in the past will be how they proceed in the future. 1) The Scottish referendum, all three...

    Colas Rail Class 37s

37s get the job over 66's as they have a greater route availability. And cheaper to run (for infrastructure trains).

Which industries/businesses should be bailed out by Govt?

Given the fact that banks have been colluding with the EU for a long time (think the Goldman sachs scandals) i would say they're given preferential status. Even so, the bank bailouts wasn't long-term (offloading as soon as poss). Here's the guff...
