    Life after a Railcard ?

Even a 'not that bad' journey is a bad journey in comparison. No thanks. Not with those seats, the overall interior of the bendy pendy, and the engine and associated noise of the voyager. I'll leave that to those that can stand it. Leaves more room for them.

    Life after a Railcard ?

I'll agree with you there. OK standard isnt bad on EC, but once youve been first class, its very very difficult to go back. Standard is nice, but first is so much more spacious and comfortable, and the base of the seats dont feel as if they are tilting forward either! If you look from the...

1970's train on the Fife Circle Scotland

Memory may be bad, but I seem to recall it was the FGW interior in the coach i sat in. If anyone wants to check I think it was 15th Jan this year. 67005 up front. Was the front coach on the evening circle. It was definitely maroon. Can tell that from the only picture ive taken...

1970's train on the Fife Circle Scotland

How about letting the Fife Circle train start and finish at Kings Cross (a renumbered platform 9 3/4). Make a good (but long) day trip for all Harry Potter fans:roll:

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

But they dont call a non tilting train a pendy. They only call the tilting ones a pendy. --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Its the combining 2 names to make one name (especially when one doesnt make sense) that i was getting at. But hey, perhaps im just a boring moaning old...

1970's train on the Fife Circle Scotland

Was the Maroon ones. Pretty sure it was anyway. They were fine when i was on them, but shall take more trips soon to confirm.

    20 Class 60s for sale

So BR wanted a loco that never complied with what they asked for? BR wanted a fuel thrifty loco. The GM engine does not comply. Hence why the 60 has the engine it has got. They could easily have chucked a lighter engine into the 60, but they didnt, because that wouldnt have complied with BRs...

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

I know its not an official name. Im just saying its a stupid sounding name. Plus one that makes no sense. Taking part of the pendolino name when the train will not be tilting. Plus, looking on Alstoms site on the pendolino, and it just goes on about their tilting trains. Which backs up what I...

1970's train on the Fife Circle Scotland

Ive been on this once, and its fair to say every comment in the article is untrue. The coaches are in good condition. They are clean, comfortable and spacious (more so than 170s in every department except perhaps cleanliness as all Scotrail units are usually very clean). It beats having the...

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

Im assuming you mean MUs? In which case you may be right regarding a limit on blunt ends of 100mph (now 110). Just thought id check before mentioning the 87s:D --- old post above --- --- new post below --- Very true. Easiest to remember though!:D Plus can stand for numerous things, like...

    DRS order 10 'Class 88'

The 88s are very very similar to the 68s apparently. Right the way down to the electronics used. Even got the same traction motors apparently. All over on WNXX*. Hop on over and have a look. *Other websites are available, including this one you are on right here!!

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

But yes, anything with the same bodyshell as a 175/ 180 would be good. Would anyone really go back to Steel bodyshells though? The proof is there that they are the best, but seemingly the only thing on peoples minds now is saving a couple of kilograms of weight --- old post above --- --- new...

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

The what??? All these daft names that keep appearing. Just because something may have the same traction motors as are under the 390s, people have to add in the name pendolino, or lino, or no, or dolino. Its like those that mention non tilting pendolinos? A what? Pendolino is the name given (by...

    IE 22000 class

If TPE had ordered some, they would have looked exactly the same inside as the 185s. TPE would have specified the interior. Siemens could build you fantastic interiors if you want.

    Hull Trains 180 replacement

Surely it would be more of a surprise if it is a pendy or IEP? You dont order a more expensive pendy if you dont require the tilt. OK you could chuck non tilt bogies underneath, but you dont go with such a cramped interior if you arent tilting. Id rather a 180 under the wires than a 390! As...

    Refurbished Eurostar?

That awful, tacky looking, ucomfortable refurb they inflicted on the TGVs? God knowq, lets keep the original Eurostar interiors please. Very comfortable.

    FGW Franchise Extension

Nowt wrong with ECs attitude to revenue protection. Ive always had ticket checks on every train of theirs that ive been on. Ticket barriers unfortunately going up in more and more places. OK they are frequently left open, but thats no bad thing, and you still have the ticket checks onboard...

    Dont i know it.

    IC225 for GEML?

Yep. The people who introduced c**p. You introduce voyagers, and you stop me using XC. You introduce bendy pendys, and you stop me using the WCML. Oh, and before anyone says im just being stupid. No, im not. They are honestly horrendously uncomfortable, and i cant stand the cramped nature of...
