Will Tyne and Wear metro frequency be increasing once new units are in service?

Actually the timetables connection is the 12 minute wait. If we allowed only the ones who could run across the bridge to catch the train and not those with wheelchairs and buggies who have to take the long way round over the road bridge, we’d be breaking the law. Sometimes people do make it but...

    Almaty metro rolling stock

Brill, so simple in the end. I hadn’t visited all the stations so diddnt see this and must have been on a different wiki page

    Almaty metro rolling stock

I’m currently travelling and have found myself in Almaty, Kazakhstan. They have a fairly recently opened metro system (about a decade ago) which had 11 stops. The stations are fairly ornate but I cant work out how the trains are powered. There are no diesel fumes or engine noises, there only...

Metrocar updates and withdrawals - Tyne & Wear Metro

Train wash is still in use, of it was a week ago when I went through it.

Metrocar updates and withdrawals - Tyne & Wear Metro

12 and 61 are no longer on 1rd at Howdon. Have they gone into the shed or elsewhere?

    T&W Metro - antisocial behaviour

Im surprise to hear that considering Liverpools general distain for the police which is unmatched I think anywhere else in the country. But no, unfortunately the typical Charva here isn’t afraid of authority and infact they often can be found purposely causing issues just so the security...

    T&W Metro - antisocial behaviour

I’m dubious of the fact that your saying that these kids are all speaking Arabic yet they come from a catholic school… but that aside… what’s wrong with people speaking Arabic? Nope, none. This as it turns out is a bit of a myth… I am part of a youth organisation as a leader. My local area was...

    Probably Benton?

Tyne & Wear Metro - South Shields station

The nexus learning centre. It’s a training facility. There are classrooms and conference rooms. There is a siding and then two reception roads that lead to stabling roads inside the building, one with an inspection pit and overhead gantry if I recall correctly. There is also a platform for...

    Tyne and Wear Metro Sidings

They stable in the stations when service has finished.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

A marked improvement for people sunbathing at the bottom of their gardens next to the line too I bet.

    Tyne and Wear Metro Sidings

Used for out of course stuff and football specials to get from Gosforth depot to come into service at St James generally.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

They also had a lot of problems with the doors. One of which was that they were so well sealed they sometimes would just not open due to air pressure. Drivers were eventually instructed to open saloon windows to allow the air to circulate Which allowed the doors to open. When these trains were...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

I’d take that with a pinch of salt being 3rd hand info at this point. Also passengers wouldn’t need to “climb” onto the platform at Pelaw as like the rest, it has a ramp at the end.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Slightly wider on the bottom… or in some cases, the top. Visible in some city centre stations and once seen, can never be unseen.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Some of which are upside down annoyingly.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

I was under the impression it was going to be a case of hot spares sitting in the sidings waiting for action, if that’s not the case then your right, getting the train into service from being sat in the depot will take longer.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Certainly badly handled, which is annoying really as it’s a sensible plan. Not a perfect situation but having the shorts standing by to replace failed trains and pick up slack at short notice is probably the best use of resources possible at the moment.

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Cant say I recall the snow covers being used at least the last couple of years, maybe it’s just my bad memory though. https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/metro-train-timetable-cuts-apology-26488930 here is the link to the chronicle article talking to,Huw Lewis. I missed the...

Tyne & Wear Metro Fleet Replacement: Awarded to Stadler

Doors faults certainly do happen with the cold, but with the current lack of available trains they would just isolate the door and run the train in service. Not quite sure what the main cold related problems are but it’s something to do with frozen water in the air pipes. The depot workers have...
