Trains that don't fit the pattern (mainly Glasgow)

Possibly, but it's my understanding that the drivers on this route work generally between Helensburgh/Dalmuir/Hyndland/Airdrie/Springburn on a mixture of services that can go either via Singer or Yoker. If there's anyone from SR on here maybe they could let us know what routes are signed for...

Trains that don't fit the pattern (mainly Glasgow)

Ok, so on the Helensburgh-Edinburgh (via Airdrie/Bathgate) line services are booked to run Helensburgh to Dalmuir, then non-stop from Dalmuir to Hyndland via Yoker. However, a few weeks ago I overheard a conversation by TE's on my train that one (yes, just one) during the day goes via Singer...

Largest town on the rail network without a staffed station

This may well be cheating but... Glasgow? Bellgrove doesn't have any staff!

Single station with widest variety of TOCs?

Surely Glasgow Central must be a contender: Virgin FTPE ScotRail East Coast Crosscountry Northern (it counts for that whole Newcastle via Dumfries job)

    Stoppers vs. fasts during disruption

I personally have a bone to pick with Scotrail over this issue. While I do think on the whole they're a pretty good TOC, their handling of delays/incidents with regards to expresses and stoppers is truly awful. Example of the usual type of response: At rush hour there are three Helensburgh...

    Dalmuir... again?

Cheers tsr! Advice much appreciated :) I count myself lucky that I got back from work today before it all kicked off!

    Dalmuir... again?

Last time the trains were off all day... any chance it'll drag through to rush hour tomorrow morning?

    Dalmuir... again?

Yeah, has caused lots of disruption! How did that happen to the train?

    Dalmuir... again?

As I recall there were major problems due to overhead wire issues just before Christmas which caused widespread disruption across the North Clyde/Argyle/A-B lines. This evening there seems to be another fairly big problem with Balloch - Springburn suspended altogether leaving 8 stations...

    Cutting your fare short

I see this all the time in Glasgow. What is particularly annoying about it, is a lot of these people get on at staffed stations and are almost 'chancing' it when they only need a single ticket. Obviously because of the barriers at Glasgow stations they now have to buy a ticket to get out...

    Lines/Stations with no Sunday service

Anderston -a stones throw from Glasgow Central - is closed on a Sunday. It's always unique to sit on the train and fly through it semi in the dark!

    High winds in Scotland 3/1

Actually, NRE have not once been 100% correct for my route, for any form of disruption as far as I can remember. Yesterday was no different. Here's a good example: http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/service_disruptions/sa10ca733c3c40abbf5303e9882fb406/details.html Right now (18:25...

    Bad Weather in Scotland Today

With regards to how I got on, dare I answer it with another question: How did we all think that all singing, all dancing 'ready for winter' plan did today? I, personally, think it's been forgotten about. Already. Which might sound very negative and moany, but I'll elaborate further if anyone...

    ScotRail Today

Ah, yes read that in the news today. Strange though, seemed like they didn't know it was coming? At least until Neilston/Cathcart/Ayrshire started disappearing in the evening.

    ScotRail Today

Seems like there's quite a large shortage of drivers? A quick look at Journeycheck at the moment shows: Neilston > Glasgow Cent. Gourock/Wemyss Bay > Glasgow Cent. Largs > Glasgow Cent. with pretty much all services on these routes being replaced by buses due to 'a member of the train...

Grand Central no services new years day

This may be a bit off topic (mods, slap me suitably if it's too far off topic...) But why don't ScotRail run any services on new years day? Last year I was crammed onto one of only two or three East Coast services between Edinburgh and Glasgow which was possibly one of the (if not the)...

15 year old denied travel due to smoking

I like this story. I, personally, feel that the minority who misbehave on our railways aren't really given proper punishment and more often than not get away with it. Well done to Scotrail (I assume so seeing as they're the ones with ticket inspectors at Waverley) for putting this guy in his...

    Paisley Canal Electrification

This is probably a really uneducated answer in comparison to those discussing the timescales for electrification etc. But... a whole load of the suburban lines in Glasgow have recently had lineside trees cut down anyway. Just before leaf fall season (hurrah!)... and it has been noticeably...

Bellgrove to Balloch in Scotland - Is this a valid fare?

A short answer to both your question is: yes. I assume this question has arisen as you've looked a the routes and saw the split between Hyndland and Dalmuir (via Singer, and via Yoker) and wondered if you could see them both? The TE's on this route have mega common sense and don't mind what...

Dalmuir to Springburn in Glasgow Today

At 7am? That's pretty shocking (excuse the pun)... hope they're caught by the police, and soon!
