Discounted tickets are perfectly valid. Just buy online, pick up from the tvm at Portsmouth Harbour and show at the ferry terminal. I travel regularly on this route and it works no problem with a railcard. Only thing is you have to buy to ryde esplanade as there are no Portsmouth harbour to pier...
Hi Sprinterguy.
The last bus services will depart around 8pm on the Saturday but earlier at 6pm on the Sunday. The normal rail service will run during the weekend which runs until about 11pm. Buses are timed to meet trains on the route D/E at Shanklin and route C at Brading.
Hello all, a quick message to point you in the direction of a new event you might be interested in. This year we are organising a Isle Of Wight Beer and Buses event on the weekend of 18th and 19th October. It will be similar format to the Hants and Surrey RE group day and will feature a number...
I had read the FLF was only to be used on Fridays and Weekends. Not sure how much of this is true. Would go down there if a new a Vr would be operating.
Ok, It's annoying that it's not made available. I have a 1st advance from the north so the Waterloo to Portsmouth is the +connections part. Just trying to avoid the 450 if possible.
Hi,
I know this has come up thousands of times but can't seem to find an answer by searching the archives. Is there a way of telling what's booked to operate the portsmouth services? I want to find out about the 0915 PMH-WAT and the 1630 WAT-PMH. M-F. I know the say no to 450 group used to post...
I recall a thread on here a while back where someone posted an itinerary showing it is possible to do all tocs in one day. I can't seem to find the post now though :/
I do agree with you. I think it would brilliant to see some kind of service down there. The pictures you mention are on this site

Thanks for your swift replies. I can see now on FGW website that it is showing the Southampton to Penmere fare with the discount. Any ideas on the fare from West Cowes though as it is set by FGW and it passes through Dawlish so it should be eligible for discount too?
Hello,
I normally travel from West Cowes (IOW) to Penmere by buying a ferry ticket and then a freedom of the south west rover 3 in 7. However with the Dawlish issues, would it be cheaper to buy an off peak return with the 25% discount? I have a railcard. Would you just buy the ticket from an...
The Island Line reopened on Sunday although a 20mph speed restriction is in place around Smallbrooke. The ride is so much smoother on that section with proper ballast rather than shingle. 007 and 009 operate the service while the other units are repaired.
I use weekend First on a Sunday out of Cornwall and it is worth it. I think most other passengers in the carriage are also upgrading. It makes such a difference to get a table seat that lines up with a window to yourself for a long journey.
I think you're right about it being a Fridays only move. It was lunchtimeish Bristol to Brighton and return in the evening if I remember correctly. I missed out on the 50's down the marshes but I have seen pictures of it since. Here is a video of the Wessex trains 31's (not my video)...
