It would be good if they could sort something out like that. Ticket barriers are an option but I guess then you have the issue of manning them. It was frustrating today though as the poor guard could only look through the window to see a carriage full of people who got on at stations with no...
Both services I traveled on today only had one guard but both carriages in use. This effectivly made one coach a "free" coach. This really can't be good. I wonder what the offical reason is. Makes you think is there anything they can do in order to use the doors again.
Trust me to be away when an Isle Of Wight thread crops up! I can confirm that the guards are no longer moving between carriages. During the day the two coach sets have one guard in each coach. This means that everybody is made to pay their fare which previously was not always the case. I suspect...
Yep, its Wightlink trying to secure their money. Its a similar thing on the Yarmouth route. If you go into Yarmouth booking office and ask for say a return to Bournemouth they will try and sell you a return on the ferry and a Lymington Pier to Bournemouth return instead of a through ticket...
My first contribution to this well read thread! I travelled with my girlfriend from Inverness to Kings Cross using my reward points in first class and I really wasn't disappointed! The Inverness crew had the breakfast offering down to a tee. Tea and Coffee whilst pulling out of Inverness, then...

And probably some more too. (Not my pictures)
Thanks for that. I'm glad that I have travelled on them this year already. I doubt it would be the end for the 300 though as it's such a popular route. First D & C may be able to get hold of some more vehicles cascaded from other parts of the group
I live on the Island. You can see the Canopy and old station building in St Helens from the road but it's a private residence so you cant get in. If you walk to the end of Quay Lane in Brading (starts by the church) you can join the old railway track and walk to St Helens.
I haven't done...
