Geoff Marshall review of Go-Coach's Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) in Sevenoaks

I must admit, I am not a fan of Sprinter citys. Too small and feels like you are in a taxi.

Geoff Marshall review of Go-Coach's Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) in Sevenoaks

Go’s DRT service is effectively a take on Uber. As mentioned, Sevenoaks is an affluent area and from what i’ve seen, people in affluent areas tend to use taxis/private hires if they don’t use the car. Maybe the appeal of a click and go service would appeal in more affluent areas? We shall...

Do restrictions apply on the use of public transport in Wales? Are leisure journeys allowed or not?

An article on the Shropshire Star’s website today about TfW: https://www.shropshirestar.com/news/health/coronavirus-covid19/2020/08/07/only-use-public-transport-if-there-is-no-alternative-plead-transport-for-wales-and-british-transport-police/ I really do despair! One minute we’re told we can...

    Bus Enthusiast Etiquette.

It’s funny in that pilots are ‘supportive’ of aviation enthusiasts and are happy to have photos with passengers, but it is completely the opposite with some bus drivers.

In your opinion, what are the most beautiful buses ever made?

For me, the Optare Versa. Just looks more interesting with its curved front.

    Bus Enthusiast Etiquette.

Some companies are very accommodating when it comes to enthusiasts. National Express are a good example with open days etc. Some companies will allow you to come in to their depots and are more than happy to show you around as long as you contact them prior. Arriva for some reason don’t permit...

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

Yeah, I knew they interworked. They are the only 2, except the 36 & 38, that interwork if i’m not mistaken?

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

If I remember correctly, the driver actually took the papers into the shop (might as well really, the stop was right next to the shop). Delivering papers by bus is only something I’ve seen up North. Nothing of the sort happens in the Midlands.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

Oh really? That’s certainly quite surprising. To be fair, the Bishopmill circular has never been a moneymaker over its years as the 30, 30A/C and now 34. Whenever I used it, I was the only fare paying passenger onboard. The rest were concessionary pass holders. Having said that, it was well...

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

Stagecoach make very little profit in the North East, practically just breaking even. All services in Moray are operated commercially and wouldn’t make much, except for the 10, 35 and possibly 33s.

Stagecoach North Scotland (Bluebird and Highland)

I’m not 100% sure, but I think X99 is Inverness operated? Stagecoach Bluebird/Highland in general don’t seem to really care. Its the little things you notice that highlight their attitude. For example: driver attitudes/customer service and the appalling state, both presentation and...

I quite like that. It’s simple, easy on the eyes and looks smart. As you say... straight to the point!

Collection tickets when no office or machine

A similar situation once happened with a passenger on my TfW train. He was unable to collect his prepaid tickets and presumed the guard would accept the email confirmation. Wrong! Him and his companion were charged the full fare. At the end of the day, I think it all comes down to the...

    Ugliest Bus Liveries

Quite a few in my area who do this. Diamond slapping their logos on ex Hansons and Central vehicles. Travel Express at one point didn’t apply any logos to their vehicles at all, instead running around with previous operator livery and logos. Their darts are all painted red with ‘Let’s Go’...

    Ugliest Bus Liveries

I like the old livery as I think it looks smarter. I’m quite a traditional, old fashioned person anyway and I was saddened to see the demise of the EYMS livery.

    Ugliest Bus Liveries

I do agree that the new East Yorkshire livery is terrible. I much preferred the old maroon and cream livery as it looked more traditional and smart. I think operators today tend to focus more on looking modern and marketing. I personally think that Transdev seem to focus more on marketing. As...
