Well I use them to go to work every day, I can't imagine having the desire or money to use them as a leisure experience! Give me a nice 70's loco and mk1s and I might travel just for fun. However I use trains for the reason they are intended, to get from A to B. Since the 800s arrived I've been...
As I walked over the foot bridge at Chippenham today looking down on the 800 I'd just got off there was a bright light on the roof of the trailing car, this was some way from the pan but I assume it is something to do with the pan monitoring ( as no wires pan was down) is this correct? If not...
No but train on time at Steventon then 13 late at Wantage Road so presumably between the two. It didn't manage to make any time up so I was thinking it may have been on diesel after that. Of course the reason given may have been rubbish.
Yes green sliding door. The seats are covered in the same new fabric as the refitted 800s but with a leather headrest framed in green fabric, very nice. One of the power cars was 43005. Strange diagram though, stopping at filton abbey wood, patchway, stj, Newport and Cardiff. No chance to get up...
Went past Langley burrel compound today and all Porta cabins now gone and looks like the site is being cleared. Some large steel parts still there and a few cable drums and general rubbish. So sadly no further progress likely for the foreseeable future as we all knew.
On my first 4 car set on 12:21 Bristol to Cardiff, what a lovely job has been done on them. The interior and seats are so much better than the 800 I just got off. Externally they look very smart.
Well I've just spent 2.5 hours on a 5 car 800 for a 10 min trip thanks to a points failure at Bathampton. Highlights were being at Chippenham on 3 separate occasions and the numb backside thanks to the seats! Don't normally notice them but this duration was painful. Have to say the gwr staff on...
Just got on the 17:13 from Bath, 13 late and it's an HST stepping in for the normal 800. Chance for someone to get a last run! Sorry didn't get power cars but front one is standard first livery.
Just on 802113 and I notice that the top set of jumper cables are not present, is the mitigation for the ladder issue? Pretty sure 800s have jumpers all the way up the inter carriage gap.
Noticed recently that the exterior of the 800s is getting filthy, I can hardly see out of the window of 035 I'm on at the moment. It's back to the bad old days of BR. GWR seemed able to keep the HSTs pretty clean, do Hitachi not wash them or is the washer not very good? Really spoiling the...
There are 2 large signs on both up and down lines just west of Chippenham road bridge near kellaways. They are currently covered but I'm assuming they are pan up / down signs as it's about a mile to the end of the wires. Anyone able to confirm if this is what they are?
