It’s much much easier. When I did it a few years back you do a SCAAT test(like the bourdon but shapes) dials and a memory test. That’s it!

they don’t need trainees for Manchester right now. They needed 3 for Edinburgh and 3 for Birmingham for the June course. The May course was all internals I believe.
