Finding out your test scores?

Apologies to begin with if this has been answered, and feel free to direct me to the thread if I missed it searching earlier.

Im just curious, is there any reason that once an applicanthaspassed all tests, why you can’t find out your actual scores for each one?

in these days of data security and GDPR I’d have thought that by sending a FOI request to the OPC would have been all it required, but judging from this forum, this isn’t the case.

can anybody shed any light?

If it’s not a public authority then they don’t need to give a reply to a FOI request. Maybe that’s why?

I may be wrong, but under Data Protection law I always thought you were leapgally allowed to see information that they hold if it’s about you.

there are reasons a company can withhold;


There are some specific situations where organisation is allowed to withhold personal information from you (not share it). These include:

• if your request is 'manifestly unfounded or excessive'
• if it includes personal information about someone else (third party information)
• if sharing it would be likely to cause serious harm to you or another person
• if sharing it would make it harder for the police to prevent crime or prosecute criminals.

but don’t think any of these apply? I’d just be keen to hear if anyone has ever asked for and received their results?

Sometimes, test results are not disclosed because it might give candidates an unfair advantage if they resit the test in the future.

Also it may allow the reciept of the test results to share the content with other people who may take the tests themselves, thus giving them an unfair advantage. That's my thoughts on it anyway.

I asked for mine from OPC, they’re reply was. “ because it’s been over 6 months since you passed, we’re unable to give you this information”

Maybe if you pay for them privately your entitled to know your scores

I asked the OPC about a fortnight after I’d done mine and was told something like ‘as we are not the custodian of the tests, we cannot tell you anything, you will have ask the TOC you did them with’ Who then just ignored my emails when I asked them.. The whole thing is so strange.. I cannot imagine any other industry working in such secrecy, with the ability to be biased (mmi), and considering they are so strict with the 2 pass rule, having no formal governing body. Some of the tests you have absolutely no idea of what you are aiming for and, going back to the mmi, a so-called competence test but yet some people get grilled with no help and others get the answers coaxed out helpfully. It’s just hit and miss as to the person you get for your mmi test, or perhaps even what candidates that particular TOC is looking for. The company’s bias, if any, should come in your DMI, not a test where you may lose one of two lives! I think the MMI, being an interview, should have two interviewers. I realise I’ve gone off track with the answer here but after reading others similar stories recently I definitely think there should be more transparency. Eg. Quite some years ago now I applied to be a Firefighter along with many many others. After a series of paper exams, and psychometric type tests, the next stage was a Fitness test. At the time (not sure now) these tests were very hard, and so they should be, but you knew exactly what they were looking for, and you either passed or failed. There wasn’t a weird vail of secrecy surrounding it all, and you weren’t left knowing nothing afterwards. Anyway, thats my own opinion.
