No, but in this case I'm literally paying for a zone 1 single anyway. They're just not providing me with the ability to buy it until I reach Farringdon.
Wonder how much more expensive the "London Thameslink" ticket will be?
On the other hand, chances of getting gripped between St Pancras and Farringdon (where I'd expect to change to the Tube and touch in) are basically zero.
Are there oyster readers on the platform at St Pancras Thameslink? I...
Not many people getting on the TL trials at Cambridge either, even though they run fast to Finsbury Park. I expect it'll take time.
ETA: Mind you, last one I took was displayed as Finsbury Park, Farringdon, City Thameslink, Blackfriars, etc., completely missing out St Pancras (which it...
However, if you live there you're far more likely to be needing to come into Cambridge than London, and a train every half hour is much closer to a turn up and go service than one an hour.
I understand the reason they can’t replace the 313s with 365s is for tunnel evacuations. Why not use the 387s instead and use the 365s to cover the routes the 387s are taken off? It feels like they’re mothballing the wrong trains.
Off peak tickets are also valid on trains like the 18:37 Liverpool Street to Cambridge service which is GN's evening peak and the train runs semi fast. There's hardly anyone on it past Bishop's Stortford. I use it to get from London to Cambridge a lot.
Yes. Will improve come December, assuming it works, but in the meantime it rather screws anyone commuting Royston/Letchworth etc to Cambridge; their train home has gone from a half hourly service to effectively an hourly service.
I note the Cambridge London slows (GN) and semi fasts (TL) now depart within a few minutes of each other. Previously the GN departures were nicely spread out with one in each quarter of an hour, going fast, semi fast, fast, slow. Now they go fast (long gap), fast, semi fast and then almost...
That's because they're replacing the existing CBG-KGX semi fast which also serve these stations and they're not getting the extra trains they would have got by replacement of the stopper with 2 x Thameslink stoppers.
For now, it seems the reality for Cambridge is that the hourly semi fast to KGX has become the Brighton service and departs in the slot that the slow used to take, and we have no idea what time the slow departs.
So literally no more trains to London, down from the substantial service increase...
