Not Selby to Leeds any more. We're back to crappy purple Class 140 Pacers :( I'd forgotten how much they jar my back compared to the 170s. The 170 seats might be firmer, but they're more supportive and the chassis doesn't lurch about in that special way a Pacer does.

There was a lot of clearing about 18 months ago in the Garforth/Micklefield/South Milford area - and the posters said it was for the upcoming electrification works :) Though obviously that never happened so the trees and shrubs are nicely growing back...

I too have no issue with being delayed - other than the fact that I didn't get to see the race. Which to be fair I should really have taken an hour off work and got the previous train so I'd be in Selby before the road and rail closures took place.

Could train the pigeons to flap against the dirtiest bits. :) If they'd painted the metalwork diesel-soot black then it wouldn't show as much. It's only really the lower parts and the area around the platforms served by more electric services that you can tell it is white.

Boo :( I was quite liking the 170s for my commute from Selby to Leeds.

It's so rare that I actually get a seat on my daily TPE journey from Leeds that I wouldn't know if these are better or worse.

As others have said, it's a huge number. There are many, many stations where there's only footbridge to platforms that aren't adjacent to the station entrance. Also due to increased traffic, some of these stations no longer offer accompanied access across the lines as there isn't a long enough...

Back to 170s now, so you're probably right.

The one in the photo looks unusual because it's not black, covered in oil and toilet effluent :)
