TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

Quite an achievement. There were just a couple of VHAs there yesterday, presumably being moved on soon.

Does anyone know when the Stagecoach BZLs are likely to enter service at Middleton ?

    Arriva Yorkshire discussion

True. The looming franchising process also means that there is less incentive to invest in new vehicles. We saw that in Manchester in the years before the launch of Bee Network.

    High Peak Discussion

There’s no train from Buxton / Chapel to Edale so the bus is very useful. When I’ve seen it there have been quite a few walkers getting off at Edale.

Indeed - the departure times from Chesterfield are close together as well !

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

I noticed it in the agenda pack for the October 24 GM Air Quality Commission - page 104. https://democracy.greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk/documents/g5682/Public%20reports%20pack%2001st-Oct-2024%2012.30%20Greater%20Manchester%20Air%20Quality%20Administration%20Committee.pdf?T=10

I thought TfGM had announced the 163 is getting electrics ? Or is this a temporary situation ?

    ZEBRA 2 Discussion

Bee Network had a similar problem as they had funding for 170 BZLs for Stockport. The planned new depot hasn't materialised yet (and wont do for some years) but Bee Network have had approval to use the buses in elsewhere in Manchester. One would hope that a similar solution can be found in...

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

I thought they were for the 280 Altrincham - Dunham Massey due to a low bridge that means only a Solo or Mellor Orion can use it. However, Solo 20746 seems to be the usual vehicle allocated at the moment.

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

Back in September (post 1551), there was note of 73 ZEBs to be allocated to Queens Road and 40 additional ZEBs to be acquired for Bolton. Does anyone have any update on this - noting that the electrification of Queens Road will not take place for a while yet and hence it will be some time...

    Bee Network Service/Route Discussion

38 minutes end to end journey time - very impressive ! Especially with only a couple of minutes recovery time at either end. Blink and it’s gone !!

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

There was an article on Metroline in Buses magazine back in October saying that they were having 6 of them. However plans change. I'm sure I've seen a picture of one somewhere so I suspect some have been delivered.

TfGM Bee Network - fleet discussion

Looking at bustimes (with usual caveats) around 35 of the BZLs are in service (out of 110 due) plus the 24 e400 EVs mean that there are around 100 vehicles to enter service yet. These will replace the 45 e400s (08 reg) and 50 or so B9s. So the maths should work.

    Stagecoach Manchester discussion

I read that the 4 Mellor Strata’s currently used on the Bury small bus routes were moving to Diamond for Tranche 3 work, so if the EVs are going to be used on these routes it will likely happen soon.

    Stagecoach Group (Group-wide matters)

I read on another thread that there are 59 ordered for Manchester. Only 35 are being delivered now (for Oldham) with the other 24 due when electrification works are done (not sure which depot - possibly Queens Road)

    Stagecoach Group (Group-wide matters)

Is that correct that there are 9 Streetdecks for Stockport. I’ve seen 8 previously reported.

    Hydrogen bus deployment challenges

I’ve read that as well - though much lower cost than a new battery set for the EVs

    Stagecoach Manchester discussion

I don't think we know for sure yet but there are nearly 200 classic E400s in Manchester at the moment. Almost all are 2008/09 so will be too old for Manchester soon and I therefore assume will be cascaded out once the big move round is complete and new vehicles are delivered. As for the MMCs...

    Hydrogen bus deployment challenges

I agree - wind farms dont run at capacity at the moment as there are times when the grid doesnt need all the energy it can produce. Similarly lots of free (ish) solar in the middle east which is why presumably Saudi Arabia is looking at building hydrogen plants there and exporting to the UK...

    Hydrogen bus deployment challenges

I don’t get it either. There is a proposal to build a huge terminal at Immingham Docks to store liquid hydrogen that has been produced in Saudi Arabia and shipped to the UK. If this is the long term proposal that will sort out hydrogen supply issues then it is years off (even if planning...
