The journey planner that powers the Avanti site is very poor. You could try using a different ticket retail site that has a better journey planner. Did you try your journey on the forum's retail site?
That sounds like a bug in the app showing the code? It should hold the phone awake while the code is displayed.
Edit: I suppose it could be an issue if you are just scanning a PDF file you have loaded from an e-mail and are not showing the code in an app that was specifically designed for...
The dates used for the historical periods on BR Fares are normally a bit after the start of the period, as past experience has shown that it can take a while for initial mistakes after a fares change date to get fixed. You can see the actual date in the small print at the bottom of the page, in...
I think the East-West mainline through Berlin might be closed at the minute so that rules out the Amsterdam and Warsaw services but the Prague - Hamburg service (runs from the lower level platforms) is also loco-hauled and still running right now.
Right, sorry about the confusion that has caused. I am not aware of any official list and so have been "guessing" the change dates for BR Fares based on dates on which a larger-than-usual number of changes happen. 18 May certainly fitted this description a few weeks ago.
Are you saying that 8...
That negative easement 703602 seems spurious; it looks like it applies to all journeys when the fare is routed ANY PERMITTED or dot? Maybe it is triggering an edge case or bug?
It maybe does, if you consider that these fares are implemented in such a badly bodged way that ignores all the existing mechanisms that exist in the fares database to combine multiple passengers onto one fare. There is no mechanism in the fares data to implement the concept that the price of...
It is not possible for journey planner-based systems to sell these since the electronic route restriction is set up to say that Ealing Common or West Acton must feature in the journey itinerary, yet these are London Underground stations and so don't feature in the timetable data that journey...
Both also reasonable suggestions, from the point of view of how TOCs or RDG might have better handled the situation.
My post was coming more from the point of view of a former journey planner developer - since journey planners are not formally subject to accreditation and there are many grey...
I'm assuming this is correct as the same information has been posted by two sources, both of whom I'd consider reliable. I'm grateful for the clarification - to me it does not seem reasonable behaviour; my interpretation (which I implemented when programming some of this stuff in the FastJP...
I think you may have misremembered; certainly since I have been interested in UK rail fares (around 15 years) it was traditionally always on the 2nd of January,
The price covers all passengers. I tried searching at a few different times and it does not look like Scotrail have set any availability for the fare, and since it's an advance it maybe means it is not purchasable in reality.
Looks like it would have been a much better decision to change at Reading, once it was clear you were going to miss the connection at Didcot. But hindsight is wonderful.
I thought it was clear from the discussion above, but the concept of a child Gold Card holder is not supposed to exist and therefore is not catered for anywhere.
I mean, a CHAGC-discounted ticket can be bought for anywhere in the Gold Card area - but the intention is that the child should always be accompanied by an adult Gold Card holder. Although as pointed out above, there may be some loopholes in the terms & conditions in this regard.
The reason why...
That is a bookable option because the (adult) Gold Card holder can book a ticket for a child to accompany them when travelling on the route covered by their Gold Card, i.e. when they don't need to book a ticket for themselves. Normally it is not permitted for a a ticket with the CHAGC (child...
