I know, I'm quite familiar with it! It's run by a private concern, but still 100% MOD traffic into the port itself. How far into complex the charter goes remains to be seen, but 2hrs + going up and down the reception roads might get a tad 'old' for all but the most desperate! Given the choice...
Not really sure why they are using 2x 40 on a trip utilising Mk3 stock. Just as well use ETH 47s really. Just a mind boggling combination in my opinion. Now a pair of 40s on Mk1's would get my money for sure.
On the other hand you could take the view that whilst the work comes and goes between individual FOCs, so do the drivers following it.
Looking in station car parks these days leads me to believe that FOC employment is most likely a longer term bet for job security going forward than TOC...
If you've ever travelled on MK1 stock on the main line at speed and heard the brakes go in then you'll have an idea what it sounds like in the cab of a 47. The sound is very noticeable/loud.
Sounds to me like that's not the whole story. Have you 'history' elsewhere in the industry or did you tell fibs to get as far as you did in the interview process? I find it difficult to believe ANY company would be so unprofessional as to behave in the manner described.
