Have articulated units ever run in this country?

    Yes, the APT was articulated.

    Pendolino Sickness

Don't think an APT-P had the potential to do 401 miles in 80 minutes as this would be at an average speed of 301mph  whereas its design top speed was only 155 mph.

    Pendo on fire?

Was at Rugby in the evening and saw 390028 with 57311 attached waiting to head north in P4. It destination indicators stated it was 1A41 which is a Manchester - London service. I asked and was told it had an OLE incident in the Kilsby tunnel area and had been dragged back to Rugby P4 where the...

    Class 67 New Livery

OK fine with me (shakes hand )

    Class 67 New Livery

Err, no its not. There is already a 66 painted anyway. It was an off the cuff light hearted remark that the Maple Leaf would have been appropriate on a 66 (why not use 66152 as it is already in DB Schenker livery) as it was built in Canada.

    Class 67 New Livery

This maybe the case, however I fail to see what relevance this has to my light hearted (ie humourous & not meant to be taken seriously) post on how it would be more appropriate to put a maple leaf on a Canadian built loco. As for 66s, yes they may be predominantly a freight loco but they can...

    Help in buying a ticket

Same here, especially when you buy Virgin Advance tickets and you always get allocated the pillar to sit next to even when specifying a window seat!

    ALR on HS1

Whilst it is valid on Heathrow Connect it is not valid from Hayes & Harlington to Heathrow, this is the same restriction that applies to a London Travelcard.

    Class 67 New Livery

Repeat yourself as many times as you like. As I put I know full well why they put a maple leaf on the 67 and that the outgoing MD is a well loved Canadian. Here is my post again just for completeness! It is tongue in cheek, light hearted as it referring to where the locos were built and...

    Class 67 New Livery

I have read the thread and do know why they did it. It was a tongue in cheek comment which is why I added the  at the end.
  11. Dreadnought

    Class 67 New Livery

You would have thought they would have put the Maple Leaf on a 66 as they were built in Canada rather than a Spanish built 67

    Priv discounts on Rovers/Rangers

Last time I travelled on a Cheshire Day Ranger in December it cost me £18 for a full fare which would make 1/4 fare £4.50! Paul

    Historical rail accident query.

Just had a look on www.railwaysarchive.co.uk and although there is an accident summary for this incident there is no documentation available. Paul

    Adelante Stock

Northern have got 3 on loan from East Coast. Currently Hull Trains are using 4 and Grand Central have 4 available (I think!). 2 are currently parked at Bounds Green and one more is at Glasgow Works. Eventual plan at the moment is for Hull Trains to have 4, Grand Central to have 5 and East...

    Mileage Competition 2010

Thought I would have a go at this for 2010 so have just entered mileage for 2 trips made at the start of the year. A day trip + travelcard from Rugby to London and Milton Keynes Central to Fulham Broadway. Hope to make many more rail trips this year so will be interested to see what my...

    377165?!

And just for completion 377454 has driving trailer 78762 from 377162 in place of 73854 which was also damaged in the accident.

Its going to be doing something different on its next tour as it is working Doncaster to Willesden and back on the Flamboyant Brighton Rocks trip.

    Virgin Monopoly and old timetables

Rugby may have a fast service to London but it loses its regular fast services to Preston and beyond as VT will only serve Birmingham or its an all stations to Crewe via Stoke LM service.

    Livery lists for LM,XC,EM,NX

Would have thought that 90003 is for the launch of National Express East Anglia and that NE would have a 91 or HST liveried for the East Coast launch on Monday.
