On the Cotswold line where not all stations have full platforms (or at least, functioning platforms, since some have recently been extended) the announcements are patchy.
Sometimes it's not in enough time for someone (especially elderly or injured) to negotiate walking through 5 carriages to...
Many thanks indeed for the offer.
The issue was referred to TW after receiving the same response twice from GWR, whether that counts as full escalation within GWR I'm not sure. TW simply asked GWR to determine whether the compensation was calculated correctly and GWR repeated what they'd...
Thanks all. The complaint is with London Travelwatch but they simply contacted GWR who said they were correct to give only 50%. A previous claim was settled at 100% of the return ticket cost...
Since there doesn't appear to be a clear answer here and GWR's website simply uses the terminology...
Does anyone have information on the compensation arrangements that apply on the Worcester - Paddington route with GWR?
There was a delay on an HST service of over two hours, meaning a payment of 100% of the ticket. GWR have provided 50% saying that this route was inherited from FGW Link and is...
Thanks both for your replies. I wasn't aware of the complexities (or NR losing experienced staff - something many businesses don't seem to consider until it's too late). I appreciate now that there are several more moving pieces than I initially realised. If the benefits of IETs only translate...
I used to travel on this regularly in 2016 and 2017. It used to arrive in Paddington just before 9pm, therefore quicker than the scheduled IET from Jan 2019.
Granted Network Rail have experienced issues, but why should that prevent GWR adjusting their timetable to reflect the performance of the...
Consider the 1850 from WOS to PAD. This used to arrive into PAD just before 9pm during the Adelante days. Post Adelante the arrival time was around 21:30. On an IET from Jan 2019, it's 21:05. Therefore, slower than an Adelante.
Or examine Sunday diagrams from WOF to PAD. Journey time of around...
Often change my mind but I rarely debate/argue unless I know the subject being discussed.
Which for me on here is not usually the case, so I'm always happy to learn from the experienced folk and change my mind/update my knowledge accordingly.
I've found Nomad to be pretty useless - when calling them, they'll generally blame the user's equipment and when emailing, maybe you'll get a response after the journey has ended to ask whether you can restart your device and try again. GWR need to get a grip of the way Nomad deals with these...
Does this mean the benefits of IETs (greater acceleration being one of them) will not translate to the timetable until late 2019?
Or does major timetable change refer to something other than quicker journey times?
Departing PAD it's often fully loaded in the weekday afternoons (not peak services). This is where the IET has replaced what used to be an HST so a drop in capacity.
Unimpressed with GWR's removal of 8 carriage HSTs in favour of 5 carriage IETs on the Cotswold line.
Even during off-peak weekday services there is standing room only.
Why the 9 day total block between Worcester and Moreton-in-Marsh? Couldn't they do one side of a station platform at a time, thus freeing the other line for at least a limited service?
Meanwhile customers on Twitter will continue to use #GWRNewTrains (much to GWR's irritation) to vent about the negative aspects of the IETs. GWR will continue to treat these customers as isolated incidents instead of accepting that they have a problem.
I find it surprising that a company like GWR has been awarded anything. I've lost count of the number of trains I've missed due to a lack of available train crew.
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
