Alliance Rail (GNWR) gets Network Rail approval

Yes, Bolton and Chorley seem to be loosing out a lot now, maybe more trains should call at Euxton Balshaw lane to compensate. I now use EBL more than Chorley, plus it is £3 cheaper to Blackpool for virtually the same distance.

Oldest bus in daily passenger service

I visited Blackburn today and was amazed to see Lancashire United ECW bodied Leyland Olympian, Ex Ribble 2173 C173ECK in passenger service. After a short chat with the driver, he told me that the lads love driving the bus and it is well looked after and is not expected to be disposed of in the...

Revenue protection farce at Bradford Forster Square

At Preston they stand on the bridge between platform 1/2 and 3.The amount of people that avoid them by using the subway and exiting the station completely hassle free is unbelievable.I wonder how many of those have not got tickets. You can see them looking at the bridge first when they get off...

    End of Pennine in Skipton?

Its a pity Stagecoach wont extend the Lancaster to Ingleton service through to Skipton.I am sure the service would be well used compared to Ribbles old 580 as it is a scenic route and would be well used by Now card holders and enthusiasts with day tickets

I do know what you mean, even at the travel shop in Preston I asked to make sure i could use it to go to Chester and she said no,even though i knew that i could.Better marketing wouldnt go a miss and better staff briefing about the ticket.I wonder how i would get on if I tried to use it on the...

There's to be no standing on the platform

I travel to Blackpool North every weekend, have done for the last 20 years or so.One Good Friday i unfortunately had the misfortune to be in a carriage of a Man Vic train which was very rowdy with a load of drunks.Needless to say it all kicked off and the BTP boarded and threw everyone from that...

Stations you don't want to go to/be at

Leyland in the evenings.Full of teenagers drinking, smoking and using foul and intimidating language. Not a nice place to be,if its raining the passengers have to stand in the rain as the shelters are full of them and they have no intention of getting a train. --- old post above --- --- new post...

    Northern/TPE Platform Extensions

When the Blackpool North line has been electrified, which by the way needs extra capacity on bank holidays and during the illumination period. The use of two 4 car units would be ideal, unfortunately platforms like Chorley wont be long enough to take them, and at Poulton Le Fylde, plenty of money has...

I fell asleep after a heavy session a couple or so years ago.I was travelling to Chorley from Blackpool north on a Northern rail to Buxton.I got a nudge off the guard to show my ticket. He studied it with a smug smile in his face and said"where you going lad",Chorley i replied. He laughed and...

    Blackpool tram concessionary pass issues

I use the trams a lot and to be fair there is now a better chance of fare paying passengers getting a seat.Pensioners can get the number 1 bus which takes the same route, hardly an inconvenience.Maybe families on holiday in the summer and illumination period can also now get a seat and have a...
