Got my first ever ride on an 810 earlier, 11.05 from Leicester as far as Kettering (Via Corby this weekend)
Good points:-
Good legroom,
Pleasant inside, not overly loud engine noise, acceleration no worse than a 222, seats OK, arrived early at Corby and Kett, 810s don't seem to be speed...
Went to B & M earlier today. Long queue as just 1 till open. No effort to open another one. No self service tills.
Prices for some stuff gone up a lot. Asda and Tesco aren't much more for some stuff. Not a store I'd rush to go.
Poundland can be similar though they do have self service which...
Also yes off topic but two 810s failed today (810006 and 018), just looking at that thread their reliability is awful with at least one failing every day (out of 5 diagrams). I'm travelling Leicester to Kettering Sunday, it's Corby diverts, looking at both fleets I'm really considering the...
I live on this route, as DK1 has said its not too bad at all. It's had low points the last few years but right now its pretty good. Mainly suffers from some inevitable late running not helped due to tight turn rounds at Birmingham and crowding at times (it's a busy route all day).
010 failed at Kettering according to RTT doors problem around 21.30 Presumably empty to Etches Park. Another one possibly failed earlier looking according RTT- 018, 05.56 Sheffield-St Pancras or was swapped as that's last update for that unit.
Looking at RTT only 4 in passenger use today (010, 013, 015 and 018), 2 more look to be testing/training.
Additionally the Merchant Park to Etches Park hasn't ran either yet.
810011 failed on Sat at Chesterfield. I'm hoping reliability will improve as looking at RTT not very often all sets make it a full day in service. I still hope to travel on an 810 so will wait a while longer till more are in service.
When I've seen 222s at Leicester, on busy services I've seen the platform staff open the buffer crew door for passenger use presumably to speed up dwell times.
810010-015 all out today and just checked RTT all still out now and running pretty much to time now so hopefully reliability is getting there. 019 also out earlier on either testing/training.
Any one know how multiple working testing is going on? Thanks for any help.
I live in Hinckley and my local part-time staffed station I've only ever seen the platform lights (including the few under the canopy) on in the daytime once and that was because some work was been done to the station/canopy most likely,
Nuneaton up until a couple or so years ago used to be...
Okay thanks for that. So 2 passenger diagrams. Considering previous to last December there were 3 HST diagrams for the 4 car sets there's less capacity now unless more 150/158/165/166 diagrammed, presume more diagrams for May TT change to release units for Newquay hourly?
Exactly. I don't really like the Hinckley one, the one in my partner's home Kettering is lovely, very big, fairly well used and is a former Cinema or something so much more character.
Back on topic anyone used Footasylum much recently?
The store in Leicester City centre closed some time ago...
We went to Leamington Spa last Sat and visited the Loungers bar. (Salino Lounge) It was very quiet for a busy time around 17.30ish. Looking at the menu the near £7 for much of the draught pints keeping people away. The Blackpool loungersone was the same when I visited some time ago in fact...
Yesterday had only my 2nd trip on a WMR 196 from Nuneaton to Leamington Spa.
Certainly not bad units, seats were okay, ride pretty good on this stretch of line, lighting not too bright, toilet ok, seat to window alignment excellent, door opening closing times good with quick dwell times...
I've always found in recent years Tesco stores have more staffed tills open but even now it's more self service. Our Hinckley store last year went from about 15 to 7 staffed tills and self service only in the evenings too, only Lidl have staffed ones as they have no self service (yet....)
Different fortunes for 2 Midlands teams tonight:- Coventry after a 5-1 win at home against Portsmouth win the Championship title, Leicester are relegated to League One after drawing to Hull at home.
Something to do with first class different layout capacity hence more non standard compared to others. I'm sure our friend liamf656 can explain better?
