Agreed. Two years of disruption and no doubt an insane amount of money for what seem like very questionable benefits.
Network Rail claim it will improve flexibility. The press release even claims it will support an increase in train frequency. But I really have doubts about how these plans...
It's not great, but the Blackburn and Blackburn Local tickets are still better than what Transdev offer in the rest of Lancashire. In Burnley the £6 day ticket will get you less than 2 miles from the bus station towards Nelson before you need the £9 Lancashire ticket. In Rossendale the cheapest...
The A555 still seems to have been a problem today with a number of buses diverting around it and suffering significant delays as a result.
Even when there are no major problems though the timetable has an obvious issue with almost no turnaround time at the Airport end, so it's effectively being...
The press release is here https://elht.nhs.uk/services/shuttle-bus The bus licence thing isn't mentioned but that's what they've been telling everyone on social media.
This would make a lot more sense, though depending on how the passenger numbers and journey times worked out it might make...
East Lancashire Hospitals Trust currently fund a free shuttle bus between Burnley and Blackburn Hospitals, operated I believe by Holmeswood Coaches. This service is to be withdrawn in March due to budget cuts. The trust have said they cannot attempt to reduce the costs by charging fares as to do...
The V1 and V3 buses to the Boohoo warehouse in Burnley are to be withdrawn from 8th February due to funding coming to an end.
I don't know how many people used them, obviously not enough to make them commercially viable, but it is a very poor state of affairs that Boohoo are supposed to be the...
The 22A timetable says it is supported by TfGM. So why they are continuing to fund that but not the 5 or 199 is a bit of a mystery.
The 199 is particularly strange as the journeys withdrawn ran entirely within Greater Manchester. And it's obviously not that High Peak aren't allowed to operate...
I think it's a 9'6" high cube container, as was another pictured striking the same bridge in November. I'd guess an 8'6" container would probably fit? (With a 14ft bridge that leaves 5'6" for the trailer)
Possibly the driver has been under before with a shipping container and forgot this one...
If these passengers are mostly changing to other buses at the bus station it'd be more useful to run a shuttle than the 313 in it's current state.
If the 313 must reach the Airport they should probably just run it via the 368 route between Cheadle Hulme and Heald Green. Yes it'd miss out quite...
I don't think the fare tables are accurate. Looking at the fare tables for Lancashire I can see journeys listed as £2.50 that I know are £3. It looks like they haven't been updated for the fare rises brought in to go with the £3 cap.
Has anyone actually been charged anything other than £3?
Latest annual passenger numbers:
Liverpool Central 12.6m
Victoria (LU) 59.6m
There are over 40 tube stations busier than Liverpool Central. The closest to Liverpool Central's usage is Covent Garden, where the platforms can only be accessed by lifts or a staircase with 193 steps.
All Transdev's publicity for the new fares (outside West Yorkshire/Greater Manchester) says it's £3, or £2.50 for shorter journeys. (They don't say what shorter journeys are but I'm guessing it's only a handful of stops)
So a rise from £1.60 to £3 is ridiculously steep but it is in line with...
There are over 300 crossings on the Brightline route, to give an idea of the scale of the problem. And even if the money were available, grade separation would be difficult with most of the line running through urban areas and close to the sea.
They could take some steps to reduce the number of...
To raise fares without many people noticing. Most return fares would be above £4, so few people will have bought them since the £2 cap for a single started. But with singles going up to £3, a significant number of journeys might still have a return ticket around £5. Withdrawing them forces...
I'd guess it's a contract between First and TfGM. Maybe not a franchise as such, if that's the difference between the two First registrations (like how bustimes.org currently has Diamond tendered routes in the tranche 3 area listed separately from their franchised services)
I doubt there is any...
I think the X43 vehicles are also programmed for certain school/college services they sometimes operate. But yes Transdev seem to be very, perhaps overly, strict about keeping branded vehicles to their route. The X43 Enviro 400s are a good example of this - the full compliment of 14 buses...
If pillar 9 is the problem, it looks like it's directly below a joint in the bridge and obviously has problems with water ingress. Have the council never done anything about it?
Rosso's school services are run from Burnley though, and the 808 starts in Burnley, so there's not really any difference.
I was going to say I wouldn't be surprised if Rosso exit the school market after losing all their contracts in Greater Manchester, but it looks like this is actually the end...
