Rail replacement buses leave from the 'horse landing' at Crewe. Announced routinely and automatically for the RRBs to Stockport today.

Similarly Arriva's X4 goes from Chester station to Cheshire Oaks half hourly, so 4 buses an hour. Chester Plus Bus does not reach out to Cheshire Oaks. Nevertheless going via Chester and bus would be a considerable time saving.

Chester - Crewe has always been disproportionately expensive, even dating back to the age of steam when there was, in theory at least, mileage based pricing. Certainly buying Chester - Shrewsbury and starting or finishing short has been a local trick for many tears. Long before the days of ATW!
