    Arriva Rail North DOO

The Leeds - Ilkley/Skipton electrics were on a half-hourly service 7 am to 7 pm (i.e. not the peak extras) so you wouldn't probably notice any difference. The North Bradford Electrics however were very reduced.

    Train Travel in Italy

Good point. There's also a day ranger type ticket, valid Civitavecchia to Roma and other (regional) trains, not sure where you can buy it. There are regular direct trains to the city centre (smaller) stations, but the limited stop direct train to the main Roma Termini station does go on a...

    Train Travel in Italy

Dunno. If it's not an advance ticket at a reduced price, I'd probably just get a ticket on the day from the machine, regional trains you stamp the ticket in the green machine (you have to complete the journey 4 hours after stamping), inter city type trains you have to get a particular train...

    Proposed new station for Elland

It is a 6-minute waiting time. The trains used to wait down at Bradley junction for a Transpennine and a Northern Rail (not currently at that time? ). Currently they have to wait at Halifax as there's a Manchester Vic to Leeds stopper through Brighouse Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

Trivia: When a slower line is also the quickest.

Leeds to Hebden Bridge. Currently the fastest journey is the Class 1 via Halifax/Bradford (continuing to Preston/Blackpool North), but the route via Dewsbury/Brighouse is shorter. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

Trivia: When a slower line is also the quickest.

Bradford to Leeds. Forster Square to Leeds runs are timed to take slightly longer than Interchange to Leeds journeys. The former is a flatter, electric route, so theoretically be 16' non stop. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

Railways that loop away from town then back in

The Kraków to Oświęcim stopping service leaves in a westerly direction, but 7-10 years ago, one or two journeys headed east, then reversed, calling at a station within walking distance of where I was, before continuing on its journey via Skawina. It doesn't currently operate, but did appear...

Railways that loop away from town then back in

There appears to be an OOU line from Petržalka towards Bratislava but don't know if this links directly to the main station or not. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

First liveried 180 on GC service

30/05/17 The 06:55 ex Bradford was external first livery and I think internal GC livery, so it could have been in refurbishment. Rather confusingly there were some northern staff on board traveling, much to the bemusement of some passengers boarding at Halifax, "is this the Grand Central?"

    UEFA Champions League Final 2017

Nobody has mentioned tonight's Women's Final. Think it was normal service beforehand, with extra services or stops after the scheduled finish. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

Northern timetable plan for May 2018

That's an interesting change, a new Huddersfield-Guide Bridge service. I have thought it a good idea to have a stop at Guide Bridge for connection.

    Warsaw: What to do?

I've flown out of Warszawa Modlin, there may be details on the airport site. Bus Airport to Modlin station, then local train, but this doesn't run via Centralna, through ticket available. Some IC and TLK trains call at Modlin and Centralna (some have compartment stock!) There's a coach link...

    Station association

Bristol Parkway also built next to a major road as a park and ride, rather than serving an adjacent community. Pudsey and Farsley are both within walking distance of New Pudsey, but the A6120 and A647 roads are nearer. The term Parkway originally referred to a nearby park. Sent from my 4009X...

Intercity hotels with free train travel

Stayed at an apartment in Garmish Partenkirchen and we got a ticket for the local buses and the Z. train to the first stop. Didn't use it as most things were within walking distance. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk

    Worst train/bus connections

On a positive note, Leeds - Menston - Otley is a recognised connection and was included in the WY METRO timetable when they published rail timetables. Rail/bus connection at Bingley seems not too bad. Sent from my 4009X using Tapatalk
