I do have some sympathy with CentreBus and the various LAs involved. These types of services linking market towns along sparsely populated main roads are a financial nightmare, and it is a story being played out across the Midlands and Northern England.

Coleshill anyone? The guard on the train I was on last week pronounced it Cose-ill which I think is right. The automated announcement at New Street pronounces it Coals-hill

Admittedly only a "dip check" but I was in the Brunswick Saturday afternoon (simsig meet) and saw a fair number of 1/1As. Overall I would call it a fair loading for both operators, but sustainable long term...? Certainly better loadings got YB than they ever achieved in Nottingham.

My ex-wife's family were from Alnwick, and they pronounced it Alan-mooth. As an aside I'm amazed how much the service there has improved. From a couple of XC and a couple of EC back in the 90s to practically hourly now on XC.

I know plenty of locals to Shrewsbury and Shropshire and I agree. To the point that I think both of them are probably correct.

Broadmarsh may be worth a visit especially if you are coming from the station. You may get to see some kinch and CentreBus offerings together with YourBus and NatEx. The best reason though is that it will be your last chance to visit the old station. It closes on 8th July for complete redevelopment

Made me think what is the status of direct rail service for the top 20 airports: 1 London Heathrow yes 2 London Gatwick. Yes 3 London Stansted Yes 4 Manchester. Yes 5 London Luton Yes 6 Edinburgh No (tram) 7 Birmingham...

It is a good option for the north MML. Almost certainly quicker to get from Nottingham and Leicester than greater London. Is probably the naffest airport I've ever used however, and East Midlands (and Birmingham) are a better option generally.

Had many a happy hour in the Cardiff BRSA in Adamsdown. It has been a long time since I was there last, so I don't know if it is still there. The loss of working clubs generally is sad.

Would TrentBarton be described as a major operator? If not, Nottingham is a good fit. Only Stagecoach add to the NCT/TB/Marshalls/ YourBus mix.

I think in fairness, Derby Riverlights bus station never worked from the day it opened. The increase in traffic had just made its poor design more obvious. I agree with the title change, since it has become the Notts/Derbys bus news thread.
