I believe Searle suggested using an adblocker. I did a Google and installed Adblock Plus. When I went to watch the episode on the C5 player, I was amazed there were no ads at all. Brilliant piece of kit :-)
I've just been reading some of this thread:- 'Beeching & beyond Lines that should have been kept open', and I was wondering which lines could realistically be re-opened.
I would assume that roads build on the old trackbed could be re-routed, and the odd building or two could be demolished...
Whilst I fully agree that staff names and phone numbers should not be made public, I think it would be a great idea if passengers on long distant trains could contact the guard of their train by mobile, say for example, if a drunk was making a nuisance of him/herself. Would save someone walking...
Well, I duly went to the station and as the booking office had only one window open and was reasonably busy, I spoke to an RPI instead. Normally, Stevenage-Alexandra Palace via Finsbury Park is NOT a valid route, as mentioned above by a couple of posters. BUT, due to the engineering work and...
Well, originally I was going to call FCC but decided to post up on here first, but have just now come off the telephone. Apparently we can get such a ticket but (obvious really) we need to specify 'via Finsbury Park'. So I'll ask for such a ticket tomorrow and let you know how it went.
And yes...
Evening.
Tomorrow, Sun 24th, myself and a few bus driver colleagues are going to the model railway exhibition at Ally Pally. We're hoping to get a FCC GroupSave ticket, but as there are replacement bus services (no thanks!) between SVG and AAP, would the GroupSave ticket be valid via FPK in...
Seems to be a totally different attitude on the buses then!
One of our local managers - just a week or so ago, said "I don't pay you to go to the toilet" (in response to a driver complaining there was too little time in-between journeys to nip to the loo).
I see posters on here knocking the old BR, but to be fair, they were handicapped to some extent by lack of funding. Now if they had as much money given to them as the Government is now handing to the TOC's, things would have been far better. And, let's not forget, in BR days, when services were...
Not a train but a bus... A while back a woman on my* bus was talking loudly on her mobile for quite some time. Eventually I called out "Will the lady on her mobile please turn the loudspeaker on so we can hear both sides of the conversation". That soon shut her up!
Going by the above posts, I'm...
I've read every post on this thread, and as someone has said, people (on here) say such-and-such is wrong but don't say how to correct it. So, in response to the 'short, sharp, shock' suggestion of punishment, how about half a dozen lashes - in public? That'd surely stop the little b@st@rds...
When I started on the railway at Cambridge station, the 0848 non-stop to Liverpool Street (originating from Kings Lynn as CockneySparrow said) was "The Fenman". The closely following train from Cambridge to Liverpool Street was the 0858 (which made 3 stops (Audley End, Bishops Stortford and...
