Red Bank Carriage & Van Sidings, Manchester

Going up the Miles Platting Incline on the left (just before the first overbridge). They were closed c 1973. Heres a pic: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/820288

    Butlins Holiday Camp Stations

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filey_Holiday_Camp_railway_station I always find these stations quite interesting - am I right in thinking there were others at Minehead & Pwllheli? Judging by the above link, the one at Filey still remains (albeit trackless). Interesting also the services that...

    Northern Adelante debut

Its funny as I was thinking about that, specially as they've still got their 5 carriages. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be.. I guess I'll find out when I come to Manchester in the New Year.

Red Bank Carriage & Van Sidings, Manchester

There also used to be carriage sidings at Newtown on the MilesPlatting incline. It would be useful - specially with the new timetable and the platform space at Victoria now being at a premium, especially with the rientroduction of Blackpool services.

    Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North

It seems both Victoria & Piccadilly will see class 180 diagrams - The Piccadilly ones form the Hazel Grove - Preston service & The Victoria ones the new Blackpool service. These are the times (pinched from another forum!) for the Hazel Grove - Preston diagrams: 06:53 Blackpool North to...

    Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North

One unit will do the Blackpool commuter run, not sure what the others will see use on - Manchester-Southport's been a past use for locos & stock. We shall have to wait & see. I'll bet Transpennine Express are absolutley kicking themselves - they would have been superb for Manchester-Scotland...

Liverpool: Would It Benefit From 2nd Station?

This has got me wondering especially with High Speed 2 starting to enter many discussions and the prospect of a branch line to both Manchester & Liverpool. But just how can Liverpool accommodate any expansion of services at any level? And at the woefully cramped Lime St Station? Can you...

    Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North

My bet is that the unit(s) will be used on the peak hour Blackpool North - Manchester Vic 'Club' service and return. It would have been nice to see one of the 180's on a S&C run.

    Manchester Victoria - Blackpool North

This is Northerns new hourly service which starts on 14th December. It will certainly be a new experience as services last ran this way in May 1989. Once again Victoria will be directly accessible to Chorley, Preston & Blackpool and certainly represents something of a turn-around in Victoria's...

Red Bank Carriage & Van Sidings, Manchester

http://the-railway-image.fotopic.net/p16690775.html This might bring back memories for some people! Situated just outside Manchester Victoria - never visited the site myself and its now defunct of course (closed 1989) but it looked a lively & fascinating place, rather like a rolling stock...

    FGW Unveils 'Graffiti Station' !

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/features/article1794301.ece All I can say is: Yuck. And what planet is FGW living on? What kind of message does this send out? Using your money to vandalise their own stations. Absolute madness.
