An interesting idea. I would have thought that the major sticking point would be finding a 'venue' to train. The sky is a freely available resource in which to train. Railway track isn't.

They cared enough to punish LM back in September 2009 when they failed to provide a Sunday service for exactly the same reasons ...

Not sure that the DfT would look favourably on LM not running a Sunday service ...

You're forgetting that this is a franchise. There's a much better option, from our point of view. It's called regime change. :idea: If you want an example of a company that got it (and continues to get it) right, speak to someone who's been around London Overground the last five years or...

The rate required to induce us to turn up on a Sunday is inversely proportional to the quality of management inflicted upon us. Simple, really. :wink:

Agreed. Not in dispute. Which is why it's all the more galling when some of those in receipt of that salary undermine their work colleagues by not going along with a collective decision to not work on rest days. And yes, it's all down to individual circumstances, and clearly some people will...

Counter argument #1: There's no way a driver would be able to support his family in anything like the manner to which they would like to become accustomed if he didn't earn a damn good basic salary. That salary having been achieved in large part by the solidarity of those who preceded him...

Or it could be that driver9000 is not 100% correct - in this particular case. These are ASLEF members working rest days (Mon-Sat) in the absence of a rest day work agreement. As I said - not popular! :evil:

Sadly, there are a handful of drivers who have been working rest days over the last couple of weeks. Needless to say, they're not hugely popular.
