Why do so many people take ANY excuse to have a go at railway staff and Bob?

The thing to remember is that many drivers don't work for the company that employed them. The franchising system means that the most senior management grades are churned fairly regularly, but at the front end very little actually changes. Almost inevitably, very swiftly after a regime change...

    Signalling problem at Harlesden

Nope. It's mainly so TfL folk can get on and off.

Neutral Section next to a Station?

The one at Stacey Bushes / Bradwell, you mean? :| If you stop at Wolverton you're doing 70odd before you reach it. :|

    New Wolverton Station Building Blueprints

Next time you ride it take a look at how far off vertical many of the OLE structures and signal posts are. That'll be a big part of your answer, right there.

    New Wolverton Station Building Blueprints

I think it's mostly because some customers seem to find the whole splitting trains thing practically impossible to come to grips with. How some people can be quite so obtuse beggars belief. Where do you get the idea that adding a station stop adds "a minute"? At least two. At least...

    New Wolverton Station Building Blueprints

It has barely the required time to split at NTN as it is, chap! LM have had to create a new driver diagram just to assist with the uncoupling in an effort to get a right-time departure for the Crewe portion. Of course, they could always put the NTN departure time for the Crewe portion back by...

    I'm the firestarter, twisted firestarter.

Lovely and quiet, it was! Very few passengers at that time of day - and let's not forget that Tring is very much in the heart of the central portion of the middle of nowhere. :D Had a nice chat with the driver of a Freightliner that was similarly detained on the Up Slow.

    I'm the firestarter, twisted firestarter.

I was on a Tring terminator. You were already beached in the Up Slow platform at Berko when I went past on the Down Slow. I then got to Tring and changed ends. And waited. Other than a shunt move ECS at the north end of Tring, there's no way to get across to the Up Fast from the Up and Down...

I suspect they would have had me through ASAP once you'd been carted away. I was stuck at Tring for about 40 minutes in total, I think.

    I'm the firestarter, twisted firestarter.

I was first one through Northchurch Up Slow Tunnel after the incident and had to examine. 10mph - plenty fast enough! Nothing to report, thankfully. Glad to hear that the driver was OK. I hope he managed to get some overtime out of it.

    Wcml possible delays

Remind me again how much the WCML upgrade cost. The last few weeks have been shockingly bad.

London Midland and ASLEF settle dispute (finally!)

Of course there are. Drivers don't just pitch up to work in case there are trains to be driven. All work is diagrammed and jobs assigned at least 48 hours ahead.:) It will be sorted for Monday, and the last time I looked the majority of Bletchley jobs for this Sunday were covered too.

London Midland and ASLEF settle dispute (finally!)

Lots of happy drivers at Bletchley and Northampton at the mo! :D Glad it's all over. It was getting old fast. :( Looking forward to getting the service back up to normal levels soon.

    Dodgy Automated Announcements

Heard today at Milton Keynes Central: "Please stand well back from the platform edge. The train now approaching Platform 2A does not stop here." I was expecting the woman in the coffee shop to beat a hasty retreat. :)
