No services between Sheffield and Nottingham

Not sure any Northern crews sign the curve from Dore. Hope valley services are only signed by Piccadilly crews iirc and the line to Chesterfield isn't signed by Piccadilly, so they have to borrow EMR conductors... :)

Trivia: Stations on a junction that either have 4 platforms or 2 platforms

Church Fenton? Is it close enough to the junction to count?

Would you still be interested in Railways if…..

I miss the deafening scream of the old HST Paxman engines.

Would you still be interested in Railways if…..

I totally agree. In some ways it's reassuring to know things aren't permanent. I know a few train types I hated from the off and wanted to see the back of from day 1. I hope the scrapyards get all of the 153s in the end.

Would you still be interested in Railways if…..

I think the railway attracts people for many reasons. There seems to be a large (but shrinking) fanbase for those who love all things steam. A decent backing for locos and loco hauled and a lot of interest in what I'd consider modern - Sprinters, Pacers, and 21st century stock. I always feel...

TfW withdrawals (Now just 150/158s to go)

Are all the TfW 150s going straight to scrap? Is there are chance some could cascade elsewhere, say Northern? I guess probably not.

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

I'd rather listen to the three S's on an endless loop for the whole duration of my journey than listen to rap music.

Class 195 - Too Many Table Seats?

Is there any scope for using platform 12 for TPE services? Or is this filled with XC services most of the day?

Guardian article on transport minister’s claimed benefits of rail nationalisation

Nationalisation isn't a cure all though. It can slice both ways: better investment vs pruning/cuts. To work effectively it would require MPs of all parties to reach a consensus that a nationalised rail industry has value to the country as a whole and that running at a profit isn't the greatest...

    Trivia: Bleakest Terminal Stations

Still nicer than Lea Road though. 1733207668 At the moment, my vote goes to Huddersfield. Due to the alterations being done the place is full of scaffolding. It looks very dark and grim. I'm sure it'll look great once it's done.

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

It just popped into my head as I was typing it. Can't say I've heard it before either! :)

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

Proving that too much ear spam makes people simply tune out. A bet a fair amount of travellers don't listen to any announcements.

Trivia: What are the quirkiest railway stations in Britain?

I personally love the Edwardian decor of Birmingham Moor Street.

So many announcements, so few people taking them on board

No one listens to them anyway. Like a bad smell, you soon stop noticing.

    Signal berth codes?

    That sounds very logical!

It's back. Does this actually stand for something?

Trivia: Downsized stations that are shells of their former selves?

Normanton Not so much downsized but Wakefield Kirkgate prior to the refurbishment looked like the perfect example of derelict grandeur.

    Dangerous Station Platforms

If it was down to the driver or guard then gritting time would have to be added onto the dwell time for each stop they were required to grit. It's make for a very slow journey! :)
