London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

The 2000 terminates at Newcastle so would be no good. Thursday night is the busiest evening out of KX in first class so I would also advise reserving a seat. All those services empty out at York a bit so maybe enjoy your meal and then work after York. I would advise 1800 in coach K or L.

Trans Pennine Express - Overpriced waste of space ?

Going a little of topic, anyone know why TPE drivers are working to rule? They had a number of cancellations this morning.

Internet Ticketing Sites TOC's are best ?

Sadly the amount of trainline confirmation bookings I see when pulling the trolley through the train suggests there are plenty of sheep out there.

The seat next to you is for your bag(s) only, other passengers are fine standing.

Scotrail tickets invalid on "The Highland Chieftan"

I think its more likely the announcement was 'tickets marked scotrail only are not valid on this service'.

Trivia: UK local bus routes that use motorways

Is there any truth in that you are not allowed standing passengers on a service which uses the motorway? I was on service 52 the other day in Leeds, it was a single and the driver refused any standing passengers because it used the motorway but i'm sure i have used this service in the past with...

    East Coast Seating Question

Yes in coach B at the end of the train there are a number of FGW seats. There are no plans for any refurb on the train as far as im aware.

    East Coast Seating Question

That plan is out of date now as the luggage rack in the middle of each coach has been removed so the seat numbers now match the normal EC HSTs, the only difference is there are more tables and less single seats in first class. There were driver/guard communication problems with the set which...

    East Coast Disabled Alarm

The problem with this is that we now don't take the alarm seriously, and one day it will actually be a disabled passenger in distress. Its rarely done on purpose, just by mistake, there is also a button in coaches L and F by the wheelchair space and sometimes luggage can press up against it on...

Lack of sandwiches from buffet at lunch time on East Coast

500 people on the York stopper, ha, that would be a first, but yes they should take the time of day into consideration more when compiling the orders for each headcode.

    centrebus holdings sold to arriva

Intresting to see what they will do with the Kirkstall Rd depot, the only money makers out of there will be the airport services.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

I think it is the all day, pretty sure they binned the mid morning off that service a while ago.

Kings X to Doncaster in First Class - best operator?

As soon as something goes wrong with one of their 180s and it out of action for a few days, their emergency timetable will always exclude the 1148. What was Hull Trains PPM in same period? Given they only run a few services between Hull and London it should be in the mid 90s.

Kings X to Doncaster in First Class - best operator?

But you will have to hang around until 1148 for the Hull Trains service, then there's a fair chance it will be cancelled. Grand Central run a non stop service to Doncaster at 1048 if speed is your main priority, but you will only get tea, coffee, water and biscuits free on there.

    Football

Well I don't think its got any better or worse in the last few years but it is awful, Rangers not been in the SPL has meant Neil Lennon could rest most of the team prior to any champions league game and still win the league at a canter, this helped them and they did really well in the CL but a...

Train Crash near Santiago de Compostela, Spain.

The carriages went straight into a solid concrete war at well (reportedly?) over 100mph, yes I think any train carriages anywhere in the world, the same would have happened.
