A friend was penalty fared at Stansted, coming from Liverpool St. He was charged £36 but held a 1-6 Travelcard on Oyster.
I believe that £36 is the correct amount from Liverpool St but from Zone 6 it should be much less.
Is it worth appealing or am I mistaken?
I bought an Advance ticket through Virgin Trains that I can't use, and am not sure which date I will eventually want to use the ticket.
If I pay the £10 admin fee, can I change it to a cheaper journey and get a refund of the fare difference (which is more than £10)?
I thought I'd bought the coach equivalent of an Open Return, but when I tried to amend the return portion, National Express showed a high "journey excess" for every journey I tried.
It seems they have fare buckets like airlines, even for flexible tickets. Has anyone got any idea how to work...
The recent news about a man being rescued from the rails at Marble Arch makes me wonder how to approach this.
If the advice is to never attempt to rescue someone in this way, what's the quickest way to force the incoming train to stop before arriving into the station?
Apologies if there is a...
I see that certain station staff (eg shop workers) have a way of entering paying toilets at stations, without paying.
If a member of the public was to find themselves short of cash but needing to spend a penny, would copying such a member of staff be acceptable?
It's €16.10 for 23km from Lyon airport to Lyon city, which is probably close to Heathrow Express levels.
Does anyone know of any other routes eg bus/train via a nearby town?
If a train is yet to call at the station from which a seat is reserved, it shows RESERVED FROM [PLACE]
If the train has already called at the station from which a seat is reserved, it shows RESERVED
Is the above accurate? Thank you
Do the lift buttons at Queensway do anything or are they just for decoration?
A member of staff there told me the lifts are semi-automatic, but didn't elaborate.
This must have come up before but I can't find it..
Is there any way to get the price of this down (other than the normal buy 5 weeks at a time / annually?
(For someone working office hours, not entitled to any Railcards, and on short-term contracts).

Outside Kings Cross the other day, I was handed a few vouchers for the Goeuro app issued by "Goeuro travel GmBH", saying £10 off per voucher (which had unique codes).
The TOCs shown on the vouchers are SouthWestRailway, Virgin, and GWR.
Any thoughts on booking through Goeuro?
Am looking at the London to Doncaster Hull Trains ticket at £59 day return.
If I miss the last Hull Trains southbound service because of a late-running connecting service, can I use another TOC?
For a weekend in Torquay, leaving London on a Fri evening or Sat morning in July, and coming back on a Sunday evening. Specific dates not known yet but there seem to be very few advances anyway.
There appear to be no good splits, except going via Salisbury knocks off £20 but adds on loads of...
I need to take a group of about a dozen adults from London to Bournemouth, and then to Cardiff, travelling in the afternoons. I have come up with the following:
03-Aug London Bournemouth Off-Peak Return £39.95
04-Aug Southampton Cardiff...
3 people in plain clothes presented themselves as Police Fédérale on a train I was on, and proceeded to check everyone's ticket. There was no uniformed guard with them.
How usual is this? Surely the police can't be trained in ticketing matters?
When trying to buy a Euston to Sheffield "route LM&XC" ticket for travel on Sunday, which takes 4 hours, I have experienced the following:
No website can sell it due to Sunday journey time being a fair bit longer than via Doncaster
Virgin ticket machines at Euston don't show it
Main ticket...
Is it possible to buy a professionally printed map showing all Northern routes (for the purposes of the £10 offer)?
A pdf printed on my rubbish printer isn't good enough.
This is for a Senior Railcard holder wishing to spend a long weekend in Tenby but without wanting to commit to specific Advances. From Sheffield, I've found:
Anytime Return via Shrewsbury £81.30
Off-Peak Return £96.95
But thanks to the website below, the cheapest station to use is...
Am trying to book the London Spezial for this weekend as some good fares still appear, but I am faced with "Für den reservierungspflichtigen Zug ist leider kein Platz mehr erhältlich." for any train that I pick.
I've had this problem before, any thoughts on the reason and the solution?
