Will wait and see if many will volunteer bearing in mind the long running dispute. It may of course go the other way and lots will volunteer to make up for loss of earnings while on strike. Good thing is less abuse of T&C’s, no being taken off route review or moved from booked job with forced...
Not sure that’s true anymore, new driver at our depot with route knowledge only had to do route questions and have station walk arounds (major stations only). Problem with XC is due to no Rest Day Working although in the current climate not sure it would be any different. Good will has gone...
As per my comment yesterday, seen offer today and not surprised it’s rubbish, no need to ask members ballot results have been high and this will probably make next results even higher yes votes
XC don’t often cancel trains throughout at least on voyager routes, there have been more part cancellations due to no rest day agreement. Just looked at departure board for Newcastle and TPE’s 15.43 Man Pic, 16.02 LLS and 17.06 LLS all showing cancelled throughout.
We are supposed to have platform staff watching train while we are walking through it as it is not on us to get anyone off who wants to stay on thinking it’s their train home after a night on the drink. They then dispatch us normally using a RA indicator.
We do it as it is part of our t&c’s from a few years back as XC don’t have platform staff at many stations so meant didn’t have to pay other companies to check our trains and driver is responsible if SCU (self check unit) showing on diagram if anyone carried over
Can easily take that long, a 10 car voyager arriving at say Newcastle that terminates and is booked to depart back over KEB would need driver to walk full length of train on platform to enter what will be leading cab, then walk back through the train closing exterior doors and checking toilets...
The difference is if I was rostered the 15.03 but running late I would be committed to work it if it was late, at the present time goodwill has gone so would not work the 15.33 if it meant overtime. As an example as not a LNER drv
You seem to have a big dislike of XC going back years when you wanted services terminated at York in favour of TPE, just as well that didn’t happen as TPE have been dire for years. XC might not be flavour of the month but at least they do run a service a high percentage of the time.
