Is the track replacement, between Lostock Station and Bolton station according to the header on the letter, being delayed until September/October in order to get the wiring in that area completed first.
The work involved is for track renewal, not electrification. The track between the station and just past Beaumont Road was renewed when the bend was eased about two years ago. The new rails are already lying inside the track on the down line at Dean Clough, see photo A680b.
The attached letter from Network Rail was received by someone living close to the line today, it came through the door with the junk mail.
Note the date on the letter and the dates for the first two lots of work.
Things are moving on again at Lostock, the crossbar is up and another one has been assembled ready to go on the last portal. Orangemen are putting up four runs of HV cable duct between the substation and the station platform. Photos sent to Dave.
Mr Locke and others, I have sent a photo of a...
It is an earth wire, there is one that comes from the Horwich direction which stops at the North end of the station platform, also on the down line like the new one. Have they come through the station or started again at the South end?
Stalactites also in place on the down line, could see the west end from the train but difficult to see the east end as the tunnel entrances are offset, but managed to get a photo from Black Horse Street bridge. Will send photo to Dave
I drove past on Saturday and could not see any work going on. I would expect to see a crane in place to lift the units off transport and up on to the foundation on the banking. Also post 6074 says that the car park will be closed for three days when this happens, there is no advance notice of...
I went to Lostock station this morning, expecting to see some activity at the substation. There was no-one around and the site gates were locked. The car park was full and I did not see any notices advising closure in the future.
This seems to be par for the course at Lostock, a letter was...
Travelled Victoria to Stalybridge today, there are long lengths of empty ducting on the floor and trunking on posts. Is this for the 25kV supply from Stalybridge or for signal cables.
Went Bolton to Victoria today, orangemen still active on the line, de-veging in various places and more importantly a batch of cantilevers being delivered at the Burnden worksite.
