I had a trip along the Lostock - Wigan line today with LDECRexile. There are more signs of work on the bridges. According Bolton Council's footpath closure notice, bridge 7, next to the M61, is to be replaced, the brick parapets have already been demolished.
Work has started today on bridge 18...
More problems with Northern ticket machines today, I bought some of their £1 journey offers last night but the machines at Bolton can't print them, neither can the ticket office staff.
Tried later at Lostock, but got the same result, the machines print out the collection receipt but can't print...
I had the same problem two weeks ago, i touched in at Bolton, got off at Deansgate and the metro at told me that my pass was not valid at that stop. I tried to touch in on the metro at Piccadilly and Victoria, with the same result, but touched out successfully at Bolton. I rangTfGM who only...
I have checked my photos and the masts were up before the track was re-aligned, but a lot of new ballast was put down where the loop line used to be, I don't think NR have that kind of money to throw around for the fun of it.
I think that Joseph Locke suggested some time back that the work was...
Just done Lostock -Victoria and back on the Buckshaw 319, also saw three 319s go through Lostock between 10.18 and 10.32, Blackpool - Picc, Airport - Preston and Buckshaw - Vic, are we being spoiled now? Photos going to Dave who will put them on the forum on Wednesday. They are beating the dmu...
The M61 bridge isn't the only thing stopping energisation, I have sent a photo to Dave re. work to be carried out up to 28th November. These notices are on the access gates along the track.
Apart from one connection under the station bridge, all missing OHLE fittings are in place at Lostock. The up line catenary and contact wires have been brought together as they go under the bridge and a length of plastic insulation(my guess) has been clipped to the wires to form a shield between...
There is still work to do around Lostock.
One autotensioner still not connected, the wire is fastened to the mast by a strap and the insulator is missing.
One wire connecting catenary to contact wire is still adrift.
Part of a registration arm mid platform is missing and the C&C is held up by a...
Just to add to the misery, little or no visible progress around Lostock since last week, one more autotensioner now permanently connected, one small coil of wire taken down from the OHLE. All other temporary connections still in place and the 25kV cables still lying in the vee at the junction...
The down line rails were replaced last night from the Bolton direction to the Ladybridge, welding and clipping down is happening today.
Part of the up line platform at Lostock, which was resurfaced a few weeks ago, has been dismantled and rebuilt again today.
The first section of AT cable from...
If the throw enough labour at it, it could be done, I am assuming that because of the number of bends on the cable that will not be done in one piece, which means that there will be a lot of joints to make.
