Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

I ventured out this afternoon as it would have been foolish not to for £1.30 return. What a novelty, trains that ran to time (near enough) and looked clean and it all meant that I didn't have to drive which is a blessed bonus. On the subject of line closures for EWR (mentioned up thread) I...

LNER to pilot removal of Off-Peak tickets

I suppose it could work if published timetables were colour coded (like, as I recall, Virgin then Avanti's were/are for catering availability) so, if peak was red and off-peak was unshaded the Leeds example would be unshaded throughout and the Edinburgh one would be red at Edinburgh only. Or...

Marston Vale rail replacement bus reliability

The semi fast is usually a coach, timekeeping is not too bad but there are occasions when it just doesn't show up, normally when it is especially cold or rainy. The all stations is usually a minibus and the drivers have a habit of missing some intermediate stations and making out of course stops...

    Avanti cancellations today (10/02/24)

I'm somewhat surprised that they didn't tell you to change at Carlisle on to the Edinburgh-Euston via Birmingham. But, then again, maybe it's not so surprising after all.

Advance Single - Ticket from Manchester to Edinburgh Waverley can I get off at Haymarket?

If you're meaning the Leonardo Royal hotels then you may be interested to know that my wife has just returned from a stay at the one in Jeffrey Street and, while she thought the breakfast was a bit average, she was mightily impressed with the rooms and, especially, the service from all the staff.

Has anyone used TopCashback to buy a Interrail pass on Trainline

I should point out that an Interrail pass is not a railcard.

    Caledonian Sleeper

This year I have made 3 CS journeys. The first was in the seats from Arrochar to Glasgow and was, mostly, a delight; spacious, great service. I say mostly as the USB socket required a continuous large force on the connector for it to work. The second was in a Club room from Euston to Glasgow...

Use the Forum's ticketing site; it will happily sell you a ticket and even save a few pennies with a split at Winchfield.

Delays when traveling a non-permitted route with a combination of tickets

Yes, in those circumstances you may travel on the next train. Should any ultimate delay qualify for delay repay then the entire journey qualifies.

    Valid routes Carlisle to Croy

Valid via either Haymarket or Edinburgh. 1695895987 Although, for a day trip, there is an Avanti only return to Edinburgh that means a Croy ticket would not be needed.

Probably lost after coming across a four day road closure on Lidlington hill.

Marston Vale line suspension over - FULL services start running 19/02/24

Yes, I went up to Bedford a few weeks back and the big bus missed St Johns on the way (a little inconvenient as I wanted the hospital) and the minibus took an extended route around Kempston Hardwick to drop someone off not at the station then proceeded to skip Stewartby entirely.

Delay repay - arrival in different station

If it's any use, late last year I travelled from Bedfordshire via Kings Cross, Edinburgh and Glasgow to Hillfoot only for a total power failure in the west of Glasgow leading to completion of the journey on foot from Anniesland (that's a long walk with a case and sore feet). Scotrail eventually...
