Dalston (London) to Margate & return via Maidstone

I haven't had a chance to look at this properly but I think that buying a Dalston (DLK/DLJ) - Ramsgate ticket (same price as to Margate) gets you validity via Maidstone. There may be cheaper ways of doing it.

    Shepperton Petersfield Chichester fare query

Interesting - I couldn't get Shepperton, Kingston,New Malden, Clapham, (New Malden), Petersfield, Chichester out of NRE for the not London ticket. Without via points it continues from Clapham via Gatwick. With via points CLJ,PTR it would only offer the more expensive via London ticket (where...

    Shepperton Petersfield Chichester fare query

You're looking at this ticket.. http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=SHP&dest=CCH&rlc=NEW&rte=700&tkt=SVR I haven't looked to see if their are cheaper ways of doing this journey but this ticket look fine for most of the journey you're planning. Kingston and Twickenham pass as origin...

    London to Exeter permitted routes

Is this for the London - Exeter leg of a longer journey? ( As far as I can see there are no any permitted returns London <-> Exeter - just via Taunton or via Honiton.)

Just tried a couple of random journeys (PAD-PLY HFD->PAD) for tomorrow - it seems to working as expected now ~16:40.

Reading to Gatwick once a week

Thanks - I take your points about documentation, etc. I took a look at Raileasy but I couldn't get it to offer any travelcard at all for RDG->CDS (not just for via Gomshall) so that may be a wider issue.

Reading to Gatwick once a week

Hi Alistair. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I suspect that we might struggle to arrive at a definitive conclusion and I certainly don't pretend to have any special expertise on this subject. (I'm also conscious that a technical debate might not be the most helpful thing for the OP and...

Reading to Gatwick once a week

No doubt there was no specific intention to make this particular route available for travelcard users but I don't understand why it would be invalid - can you explain why you think it isn't valid? For info, NRE is happy to offer this route and it hands over to GWR who will sell a Reading to...

Reading to Gatwick once a week

My understanding is that you can take any permitted route (not passing within the zones) to the first (nominated) station arrived at inside the zones; that need not be the nearest one to the origin. See this thread...

    Garforth to Goole permitted routes

I understand that the relevant fares aren't available in NFM64 so Leeds neither passes nor fails the fares check. In the absence of a positive easement, different journey planners may show different behaviours (some treating it as a pass, others as a fail). So if you need via Leeds on a...

    Garforth to Goole permitted routes

Looking at the split routeing, trainscanbecheaper.info is happy to offer Woodlesford-Brough (any permitted) via Leeds which implies that Leeds passes the fares check as an origin routeing point for Woodlesford-Brough. If so, that would mean that the Woodlesford-Goole (route:Brough) ticket is...

    Garforth to Goole permitted routes

As long as the ticket permits break of journey, I don't think they'd actually need to go as far as Brough (although that might be quicker). Given the OP is asking about a season ticket, I think they should be fine doing Garforth - Selby - Gilberdyke - Goole omitting Brough.

Rail accounts for only 2% of all trips made

The OP refers to this paper https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/the-role-of-the-railway-in-great-britain-an-evidence-paper ( I think that the OP has tried to provide a link but it seems to be broken - for me at least.) At note 8 that refers to ...

    Northampton-Leeds off peak

The through ticket has restriction 2V which prevents departure before 0930 www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=NMP&dest=LDS&rte=700&tkt=SVR Northampton Tamworth is restriction CS - valid from 0900 http://www.brfares.com/#faredetail?orig=NMP&dest=TAM&tkt=SVR It's likely to be worth splitting...

    Two-together : excess - return only?

Travelling on two-together super-off-peak returns. If our travel plans change on the way back so we're travelling separately can we excess the return half only ( at half the difference between the full and discounted price per ticket) ? Can we do this after we've commenced our return journey...

    National Routeing Guide update

It is a bit surprising that Milton Keynes / Bletchley to Worcester / Hereford weren't already mapped via Birmingham International. However, I'm fairly sure that these routes were already valid by the shortest route +3mile rule.
