    Routeing Guide Unavailable

    I think rp_calc has been down for over a week - it's showing garbage because the page is crashing on load. That's because the request for angular.min.js fails (I'm sure this has happened on a number of occasions before.) I guess that it might be possible to fix this locally if you could use...

    Woking to Shoreham tickets

    For Woking-Shoreham, only Brighton passes the fares check as a destination routeing point and theres no mapped route back from there via Christs Hospital. (Nor is it on the shortest route.) I would look at Woking to Worthing return (same price as Shoreham assuming you're looking at for day...

    InterCity Shuttle

    See https://ageofthetrain.retropia.co.uk/post/128099925354/intercity-shuttle-1993 Confirms, London - Norwich/Wolverhampton/Nottingham/Sheffield... I agree with Phil in post#5 - Victoria-Gatwick wasn't InterCity Shuttle AFAICR. Re Paddington-Bristol I'm not sure - I was travelling through...

    TrainSplit v2

    In this post above, the Daily Mail is quoted as saying... "'If you go on the individual train company sites or Trainline, you won’t necessarily be offered all the cheaper options that are available,’ says Mike Richardson, a co-founder of the website trainsplit.com, part of the Raileasy group."...

    Kenilworth -> Hereford permitted routes

    That's interesting - hopefully that implies that the .rgx mapping for KNW is LMS. If that's true then both Leamington Spa and Coventry pass the fares check as origin routeing points for KNW-HFD so the OP is fine anyway.

    Kenilworth -> Hereford permitted routes

    I agree - I couldn't get the 3m rule to work for you using railmiles mileages.... Shortest route wholly by rail. 78+04 (Via Coventry, avoiding New Street*) 26+03 KNW-BMO (via Leamington) 55+05 BHM-HDF Total 81+08 ; so not within 3m. The RG mileage data using by route-planners is slightly...

    Kenilworth -> Hereford permitted routes

    Unfortunately, it's not possible to evaluate the appropriate routeing points for Kenilworth using the public-facing information at http://data.atoc.org/routeing-guide Although DfT have claimed that "fares, routeing and timetable information is now free for developers to access"... (See s3.2...

    Strange London to Hastings routing.

    What routes did you have in mind?

    Bletchley to Whitehaven - is it valid "both ways"?

    Yes, that's completely fine - mapped on LM. Either way, Carlisle (and Lancaster) are valild destination/origin routing points. All mapped routes are symmetrical in terms of the maps available between routeing points. (I guess it's theoretically possible that for some journeys the NFM64 fares...

    Paddington to Oxford - evening peak restrictions from Boundary Zone 6

    Thanks, FTLO - that's very helpful. Yes - that's not a bad option either - thanks for that.

    Paddington to Oxford - evening peak restrictions from Boundary Zone 6

    My friend holds a 1-week zones 1-6 travelcard. She has a Network Card. She needs to go to Oxford from Paddington tomorrow evening 16th April and back late the same evening. She'd prefer to take a fast train in the peak - eg the 17:22 from Paddington. I've suggested that she gets a Boundary Zone...

    Gatwick Airport to Exeter

    I was thinking about this too (given the recent thread on this). £27-ish is day-single/day return only - it's around 33 for a period return Similarly SAL-EXD at around 35 is weekend only day return,isn't it? It's 44/48 for a period return. If we get a bit more info I'd maybe also look at...

    Gatwick Airport to Exeter

    See https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/please-read-before-asking-for-fares-advice.50404/ - I can think of various options which might help you but it's hard to say if we don't have the information.

    National Routeing Guide update

    I've taken a quick look today's new yellow pages pdf ( http://iblocks-rg-publication.s3-website-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/yellow_pages.pdf ) AFAICS ... Watford Junction/Milton Keynes to Derby Group/Nottingham; Northampton to Derby Group; and Milton Keynes to Tamworth Add: EB+DG Watford...

    Aberdeen to Edinburgh Routing Question

    I think Aberdeen-Falkirk Stations would be OK for the OP's intended route - ~£2 cheaper than Croy or Glasgow. (and AFAICT Polmont or Linlithgow would shave a little bit more off.)

    Gatwick to Salisbury

    This is the fare mentioned by Alfonso in post #7 and is also shown in Owlman's post #15. I must admit I'd assumed that - since you started by discussing split tickets - you'd checked the through fare and the £0.80 saving was important to you (it might be to some.)

    Gatwick to Salisbury

    That's right - the cheap route:Barnham fares from Gatwick start with destinations Hilsea/Cosham and extend as far as Weymouth, Salisbury and Winchester. I think there are effectivley three price tiers : the cheapest will get you as far as Beaulieu Road / Chandlers Ford (but not Romsey) /...

    GWR Pullman Dining

    I did this a few weeks back ( on an IET ex Plymouth); the service (to me) seemed very similar to the Pullman offering on HSTs (ie excellent!) I don't see why not - at https://www.gwr.com/plan-journey/journey-information/on-board/pullman-dining/pullman-booking#/intro - what makes you think...

    Showers at Penzance station

    I'd ask the customer host on the train ( I don't know if it's possible to book further in advance - it might be.)

    Showers at Penzance station

    We used the showers (and lounge) at Penzance coming off the sleeper last month ( very welcome as our rooms weren't available until the afternoon.) I'd had no idea they existed but the on-train staff suggested we might like to book them. (As it turned out, our booking wasn't transmitted to PNZ...
