    How are diagrams "built"?

Most GN Moorgate trains used to be run with 2 x 313, which meant that short-forming was an option or splitting one train to cover 2 services. Now the new 717s (like the TL 700s) are fixed formation, so there won't be any short forms but are likely to be an increased number of cancellations of at...

    Split Ticket with Season Ticket

Have edited my post - thanks!

    Split Ticket with Season Ticket

If you can afford to get an annual season, this would normally additionally entitle you to Gold Card discounts and might give you savings on the London trips (depending on times etc). There’s info about this and other aspects of season tickets on the National Rail Enquiries website page...

    How are diagrams "built"?

Lack of platform capacity at Moorgate (2) and required frequencies Mon-Fri means that weekday diagrams have to be mainly V shaped. Trains alternate between Welwyn Garden City and Hertford North routes. This has the result of quickly transferring any problems from one line to the other. Believe...

Should time restricted fares be abolished?

Think you’ve probably also got weekday Super Off Peak Day return at slightly cheaper price to encourage evening return outside the busiest period (later start of validity am too). Generally on busy routes, if you look at how many people get first train after price drops and then think about...

    Activating e-ticket on Trainline

You’ve mentioned both e-ticket and mobile ticket - these aren’t the same thing. The Trainline website explains here how and when to activate a mobile ticket: https://www.thetrainline.com/en/help/question/4500/how-do-i-downloadactivate-my-mobile-tickets This includes (sorry can’t see how to make...

    Thameslink e-tickets

A Stevenage London Terminals ticket is valid directly to Moorgate via Finsbury Park on GN services, so would need to be accepted at gateline controlled by TfL anyhow. The question is - as mentioned by others - are the staff briefed and will they accept it? Will enquire next week when I'm there...

    Thameslink e-tickets

Does that matter if journey is on a direct train? I tried putting Stevenage to Moorgate on TL website and it offered a London Terminals e-ticket

    Thameslink/ Class 700 Progress

Any changes to the trains - WiFi, tables, extra carriages are down to DfT decision / funding. Suspect DfT have other more urgent concerns at present. With all the submissions under the PBF for a large number of stations, was bound to take time to assess and then will presumably also need...

    Great Northern 313 Withdrawals

The diagrams are mainly V shaped across both routes Mon-Fri

    GN Class 717

There’s no WiFi yet between Drayton Park and Moorgate, but all 717s have it elsewhere. Adjacent Highbury and Islington Victoria Line platforms have it, but can’t usually connect on GN platforms.

    Great Northern 313 Withdrawals

Possibly Drayton Park? - no central fast lines there to block the view (if there’s disruption, then #432 better)

    ECML/MML major power problems (09/08)

My approval email, received this week for a similar amount, said I should receive the cheque by post in the next couple of weeks.

    ECML/MML major power problems (09/08)

Thanks. Rarely venture south of the river and not an expert - had forgotten that it had a different set-up.

    ECML/MML major power problems (09/08)

The same 700s work north and south of London but don't remember hearing of issues to the south, which suggests the electrical outages varied on different lines? Possibly any modern electrically powered train would have been hit on ECML / MML - rather than the 700s / 717s being uniquely impacted?
