Trains Stopping away from Platform Entrances

Are the drivers supposed to always stop at the S marker? In SWT land at my local station Brentford when there are 4 car 455's running at weekends they often stop about half way down the platform nearer the exit rather than where the S marker is.

    skankiest underpass

Haven't been there for a while but West Byfleet was always pretty horrific.

    Smoking onboard the train

Not nescasserily 6/7ths, I don't smoke but equally don't object...

    Acton Main Line

No, in fact the frequency is doubling to 4tph each way I believe.

    Greater Anglia.. run by idiots?

White Harte Lane is but one venue too though, that's my point! I know SWt don't run many extras but they do run all their trains as 8 coaches - which is what GA should be doing when demand dictates.

    Greater Anglia.. run by idiots?

Strange, SWT seem to manage well when there's an event at Twickenham by rescheduling maintainance, don't see why GA can't do the same - especially as there was a possession on another part of the network I'd have thought there'd be more stock available than usual.

    Greater Anglia.. run by idiots?

Not their fault there was a possession but their fault for only running 4 car trains I suspect.

    Five-car Overground Class 378's

As soon as it is extended to 5 car trains it will need further extension again. It must be cheaper in the long run just to go for 8 car trains.

Children 'train surfing' in Maesteg & Garth

I think the real shock here is that there was a guard.

    Football

No, think clubs do it all the time. Brentford announced how they were going to sell tickets for the Chelsea game before beating Southend in the replay last night.

Why are the frequencies so poor on the NLL?

Are you really comparing rural Lincolnshire with London? Poor comparison.

    Confused about Greenford

It is double track almost all the way. Was putting the wires up to Greenford and back round to Old Oak Common via Hanger Lane considered as they use this frequently to turn trains? It would also have prevented the need to have a couple of 165's in London all day.

    Confused about Greenford

 although just to be clear I wasn't going off wikipedia!

    Confused about Greenford

I've had a bit of a search - it's only doubling frequency in the peak so for the majority of the day passengers won't be any better off. Also disappointing (from a selfish commuting point of view) to see that Acton Main Line will get 4tph whilst Hanwell will still only get 2. :(

    Confused about Greenford

It used to do this until some point in the 90's I believe. No room now though. Anyone know when they will start work on the bay at West Ealing? And Jimmyowl - none of the platforms past West Ealing are long enough for 4 cars.

    Confused about Greenford

Can't see there being direct peak trains as 2 coaches is a waste of a path in to London.

    Confused about Greenford

Have to admit I wasn't aware that the service frequency was doubling. Where is this documented?
  18. S

    Confused about Greenford

They are going to terminate at West Ealing. Can't see it being a success - think it will ultimately lead to a service reduction.

    Good Samaritan at a cost

Probably just trying to bump up their no win no fee claim which will inevitably follow.

    4-6 travelcard on Oyster/Gold Card

I have just purchased an annual zone 4-6 travelcard to be loaded on to my Oyster card at West Drayton tomorrow. I understand that this annual ticket entitles me to a gold card, how do I get this, will it be posted out to me?
