I will say this - the Series 1 TTCs do not have, have not had, and will not have the ability to bolt the booms together.
The portal booms are different designs of steel altogether, although similar.
The normal "open-route" MkIII STCs are fine, but the issue is with the slimmer cross-sections on masts which have larger radial loads (e.g. platform cantilevers, such as those used at Welwyn North). The larger the radial load, the more likely the "twist" can't be recovered.
Another reason why...
As someone on the GBRf 2018 tour (part of which ran from Waterloo's former Int'l platforms to Blackpool North) I can confirm that they do, or at least the one that hauled us did.
Another bridge seems to be being demolished (SPC5-91; Flying Arches) on the 04/10/2025 and 05/10/2025, as per this NWR press release.
Marle Pit Hill is bridge SPC5-94.

I mean, it's still "allowed", but only if replacing like-for-like, or if the cross-section of the mast is much beefier. The increased forces on the main steelwork when the catenary & contact are much further along mean that the mast is more likely to fail more quickly.
Precisely. NWR has to use portals or TTCs above platforms (some places have used headspans, like Glasgow Queen St), and single track cantilevers are a no-no.
Little update from the Beeb quoting a Midlands Rail Hub staff member, hinting at increased calls at Ashchurch, but also more interestingly at Stonehouse, Stroud, Kemble & Swindon:

The latest Modern Railways (September 2025 issue) states on Page 13 that "the Mk 3s has to be withdrawn next year as they are life-expired while the '68s' are understood to have a new user lined up".
6 68s for 6 73/9s...?
