    Bath to Northfield October 2nd

I wondered if any of the experts here can advise of a cheaper fare than the £28.xx advanced single that is on the LM & GWR websites. Ideally departing Bath around 2pm. Many thanks Ps I'm happy to use split tickets or 'alternative' routings. Travelling by bus/coach is NOT an acceptable option.

    Was I in the right?

It might be a good idea for the OP to investigate the accounts offered by the major banks designed for people in his age group (14-17) that offer a visa, or Mastercard, debit card, and are designed to be used in a wider range of circumstances than his current 'pre-payment' visa card. OP, does...

Southern DOO: ASLEF members vote 79.1% for revised deal

My sympathy is with the customers who won't receive the service they have paid for, who will have their lives inconvenienced and will miss out on valuable family time as a result of this unacceptable politically motivated strike. I also have sympathy for the businesses who will suffer loss of...

    Pensioner against feet on seats

The image shows a violent assault on a young child, a criminal act that, sadly & worryingly, many, including industry operatives, here think is acceptable behaviour.

    Pensioner against feet on seats

I think we are all in agreement that the young children should not have put their feet on a seat. However, there are many here that find an adult assaulting a young child is an acceptable behaviour. It is NOT. Even more worrying is that such actions are supported by forum members who work in...

    Pensioner against feet on seats

A serious question, many of the posts condoning and supporting the violent asault on the young child were made by members who are employed in customer facing roles within the railway industry, is that really an acceptable attitude to have when you are employed to deal with customers?

    Pensioner against feet on seats

Regardless of the actions of the children, this was an assault on a young child by an adult, which is totally unacceptable. It is worrying that many here, including some who work in customer facing roles in the industry, consider such actions to be acceptable. I hope that the person...

Carnet problem - solicitor recommendation and any other comments?

Also remember that if the ticket was not placed and kept in a secure evidence bag, the possibility exists that the TOC, or it's operatives &/or agents, may "amend" the condition of the ticket &/or any markings on the ticket to their advantage.

    Applied railcard discount wrongfully

If the OP had been registered as unemployed, the DWP would have provided funds to cover his/her travel to work for the period until the first salary is received. I wonder why the OP did not make use of such funding?

    More Gatwick Express Woes

Sadly yes it is, good customer service, which includes replying to their paying customers in a reasonable time is a concept that hasn't reached many TOC operatives.

    Ticket Checks

Checked on a mid afternoon LM Cross City line train today. First time in years that I've had tickets checked on that line. Traveled back from Edinburgh to Birmingham, including coach to Penrith, at the start of last month with no sign of the onboard operatives at all.

Prosecution for alleged alteration of date on carnet ticket

Has the ticket being kept secure by the TOC after they took the ticket? If not they could have altered the condition of the ticket to assist their case.

Prosecution for alleged alteration of date on carnet ticket

When the ticket was taken by the RPI was it placed into a sealed evidence bag so that it's condition would not be changed or altered in any way by the RPI or other TOC operatives? If not, there is no proof that the RPI, or another TOC operative, haven't "adjusted" the condition of the ticket to...

Birmingham to Edinburgh Best fare advice, Please

I wonder if I could ask the assistance of our fare and ticketing experts. My idea for Birmingham X-Rail post HS2

You are proposing billions of pounds of expenditure, and years of disruption, with the associated costs for the people of Birmingham for something that benefits about 1% of the population. How are you proposing this fantasy scheme is financed? I'd suggest that there are many more cost...

    Son inadvertently purchased child ticket

Which leads to the question In a simple case, like described in this thread, what are the actual costs incurred by the TOC if the matter is settled before court papers are filed? One would assume that standard 'pro forma' letters with space for relevant details to be inserted are used, so...
