What are your thoughts on the contactless card limit increasing to £100?

Many people use the Apple Pay, or google pay apps that doesn’t have an upper limit, apart from funds being available. Very useful for buying fuel, paying restaurant bills and large supermarket shops etc. I’d thank the majority of people use cash infrequently and very rarely as their first choice...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I can imagine the reaction of the "Hotel Inspector" Alex Polizzi to the service provided by the CS. It would probably be the most explosive and damming episode of the series ever. At a time where there are ever increasing demands on the tax payers funds, serious thought should be given to the...

Getting people back on trains as lockdown eases.

For people to use trains, the services provided and costs involved have to be the best option for the customers plans. Two examples, last Friday I was going to Worcester to watch a Vitality Blast cricket game starting at 5:30 and lasting about 3 hours, followed by going for a meal after the...

    On-train catering

In view of the losses the rail industry is making, and the need for massive subsidies from the taxpayer, is it really sensible to spend public funds providing free alcohol? Surely the industry should be reducing the losses incurred while meeting their contractual service obligations.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

Had two very threatening calls from 0114 6970158 claiminig to be HRMC and claiming I am facing criminal charges. The tone is very threatening, so please beware. When called the number has a non UK ring tone and connects to an Indian call centre with oberatives with very poor english language...

Conservatives have gained control of Dudley. This has to be positive for Andy Street in his bid to remain West Midlands mayor.

Android phone battery drainage problem - any ideas?

A replacement battery from a stall at your local market, or a local phone store may be your best option. A lot cheaper than a new phone anyway.

Android phone battery drainage problem - any ideas?

How old is tthe phone? Sometimes batteries do have a rapid loss of performance. A replacement battery may be needed, but try what Bevan Price suggested first.

Android phone battery drainage problem - any ideas?

Have you tried closing all the apps & then rebooting the phone? It's possible you have apps &/or processes running in the background.

What do you want from a premium service?

2+1 seating, so the journey is more comfortable, with space to work or relax. Coffee & soft drinks would be good, but not essential. Not bothered about alcohol or food. I'd much rather have a lower priced ticket and get the food I want before the journey.

Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh, aged 99, has died

I beleive that EPL & EFL games will be rescheduled to avoid the time of the funeral. I'd also expect local cricket leagues to adjust their start times to allow the national silence at 3pm to be observed.

A scam phone calls and emails discussion.

07532 722642 claims to be HMRC and they will commence a fraud case against you unless you "press 1" to speak to them. You are connected on a low quality line with an Indian sounding operative with limited English. Beware!

    Annoying television adverts...

Any adverts for gambling activities, especially during live sports events. In an ideal world all advertising and sponsorship by gambling companies would be banned.

Derailment at Kirkby (Merseyside) - 13/03/2021

Would the driver have been tested for alcohol, and other drugs, after the incident? Also, if the accident was caused by a mechanical failure, is it still safe to use other units of the same design, until the cause of the failure has been rectified?

Advice Only for Greater Anglia - Delay Repay Fraud

Has anyone asked GA to explain and justify their "alleged" investigation costs? To do a mass mailing from a computerised report would cost significantly less that £1 per item, especially as posters have said a very low grade, and therefore cheap, paper was used. Also, by not properly verifying...

Chiltern timetable - what if it wasn't about Brum-London?

For many people living in South Birmingham, & Solihull, it is quicker & easier to park at Solihull station and use Chiltern to go to London, it is is to get into New Street and go on Avanti. Also, Marylebone is a much more convenient station in London for many people, especially as it's within...

    Night photography: help!

Bridge cameras do not have interchangable lenses, for that you will need an SLR. However there are adjustments you can make to the settings to improve your results. (Contact me by PM if you want more advice)

London Euston to Glasgow- Avanti Sunday Service Ticket Prices

You can probably get flights for less than the cost on Rail, even including the cost of getting to & from the airport. The journey will also be a lot quicker, allowing you more time in London.

    Fares workshops

I’d be interested, preferably Birmingham. Have you considered doing the session using Microsoft Teams or Zoom, as that may be easier and safer with the current restrictions on groups meeting.

Is there demand for more sleeper services?

The proposals are becoming more complex, and expensive, trying to provide a service that is not required, or wanted in any numbers that would make them even slightly financially viable. Most people would rather fly on the day, even if it was a long day, or travel the evening before, and have a...
