    How do you...

Hmm... is it 3 or 4 years since that 'temporary' message appeared?

Thanks - that's the link I had, but they seemed to be offline when I checked yesterday (they're back now).

    Let it Rain

While changing the weather in NWM routes can be quite straightforward, you do need a basic understanding of how BVE route files are put together to follow what's going on. Try having a look at Dennis's tutorials on the subject (what's the link for these? I looked for them earlier and couldn't...

    Let it Rain

.beacon 21 needs to be added everywhere the intensity of rain changes, so you need to place them for every bridge and tunnel in the route. You need to do the same for the cab brightness commands and the fog commands. Fortunately, the way Tony has constructed the NWM routefiles means that you...

Moving around the cab on a laptop

Have you tried the alternative key assignments? Right click and select Option... then Controller and Key Assignments. The drop down list at the top of the dialog gives a number of predefined setups including one for machines without a keypad.

    Class 50 now released

The BVE Class 50 does have a limiter set to 100mph (162Kph actually!), but I don't know whether this is a prototypical feature. The 158 doesn't, but the tractive effort will be falling away to practically nothing at that speed anyway.

    reverser problem

Right, so you've completely removed the old drive and have a fresh copy of Windows running on the new one? I had an idea that with installations of BVE in two different places, there might be confusion in the registry if the first hadn't been properly uninstalled. Obviously if you've got a...

How to run BVE4 under Windows Vista x86 and x64 and Windows 7

If you're running under Vista, are you running BVE as Administrator? Are you using the revised bve.exe.manifest file that ukneilw posted above?

How to run BVE4 under Windows Vista x86 and x64 and Windows 7

Why do you need to run BVE as an administrator, Neil? As I said above, I've set up other programs that store their data with the program files so that an ordinary user can run them, simply by sharing the program and data folders. It might be possible to lock down the permissions more...

How to run BVE4 under Windows Vista x86 and x64 and Windows 7

It would be helpful if you carried out this conversation in public, guys, as similar problems are very likely to afflict other users.

    reverser problem

Did you uninstall your old copy of BVE using the Add and Remove Programs dialog before reinstalling?

How to run BVE4 under Windows Vista x86 and x64 and Windows 7

As eezypeazy says, you may just have saved our hobby :D  give that man a cup of tea (cries of "Eccles - you idiot"). Could you not just share the BVE folder and its subfolders, rather than turning off UAC altogether? I've done this on my Dad's PC under Vista for other programs that...

    Pendo Released

The neutral section behaviour was coded into the plugin released with the Class 323 update a couple of years ago and Tony put the neutral sections into NWM about the same time. The correct procedure for passing a neutral section is described in the driver's guide for the 323, as are the...

    Aldwych Branch for BVE4

Looks good and drives well apart from the niggle mentioned by tube nutter. I doubt there's anything you can do about that with such a short platform and still have the approach controlled signals do their stuff properly. One thing I noticed with the 'foggy' route was that the signal glows...

    Swaps |Trains!?

Let me guess - this is what's turned up on an FGW stopper from Westbury to Bristol over the last few months :? ? BTW, if you have a look at the 'BRF' scripting that comes with the BVE Route Randomiser, I think you could pretty easily work out a way to match the train to an appropriate stop...

    Question about BVE4 Voyager

No need to delete any files. Modify the sound.cfg by commenting out the motor sounds and ats sounds 13 and 14 (the revving up and down sounds). Actually, the result sounds a bit too quiet to me - I'm sure you'd hear the engines of the other carriages to some extent. That would need a new set...

    Trains...possible improvements?

I'm not too keen on this: it has been tried in the past (on Tom Beevers' BVE2 Metro Cammell DMU), but since you can't do semi-transparent pixels in the BVE panel, you just end up with very hard-edged opaque speckles on the windscreen, rather than blurry transparent dirt. (For very nicely done...

request for something we ALL can enjoy

I had a go with the train too and my impressions were pretty much the same as those eezypeazy and Emergency Brake have reported. BTW you *can* change the point of view in BVE2, but as well as looking at the xyz position of the driver, you'll need to modify the panel bitmap so that the spectacle...
