Are there any timetable experts/enthusiasts on here who can tell (a) how many trains there actually are indicated in the timetable (b) where they go. I'm getting lost.
Sounds a little like Lincolnshire with miles and miles of nothingness. However, much of the rural nothingness consists of farms which are owned by people who make their living from the land. Many UWC's on the Peterborough to Lincoln line via Spalding have no buildings within sight...
If compensation was known to be available for such a situation, it would be wide open to abuse with everyone on the crowded train at the time feeling entitled to claim
How long has this been going on? It's 2-3 years since I last hit Cleethorpes but I often used the bogs on the station (unrestricted walk in) when coming in from Donny.
Sat at Peterborough for 20 minutes.
Does anyone know what happened?
Despite the journey time allowed for this late night service being very generous, it was still 15 down at Leeds with very little lost time having been made up.
I don't mean to sound ungracious but which planet are you from? Britain already has the most expensive rail fares in Europe as well as the most underdeveloped rail network generally.
I don't understand the fuss about simply walking through First Class. On boarding my very first Grand Central Trains service, at a Standard door, I realised that my reservation was in a coach some distance from where I had boarded. Train staff were actually instructing people to walk through...
True, but any organisation providing a service has the legal right to include a requirement for photo ID in its Terms of Service in the same way your bank can close your account without giving you any reason, because they have included that dubious right in their Terms of Service.
I had cause to...
The chairman of the Carlton Club (the original home of the Conservative Party before the days of Conservative Central Office) was the MP for Worcester, Peter Walker.
A contactless debit card legally belongs to the bank who issued it (with the bank also having the right to close the account associated with a card at any time without giving a reason).
Seems totally illogical to even believe that there could be some way to apply a rail related discount to a...
Is this the real reason? After all an iPad with 128GB storage is the same physical size as one with only 64GB storage. How much more information does the code on a paper roll ticket need, a ticket that is not intended to operate ticket gates.
You really do this? Perhaps we need more of these queue control thingies where you wait until called to the ticket seller's position and there is nobody behind you invading your personal space and your privacy.
So many people appear so excited over Crossrail, High Speed 1 and High Speed 2.
Personally, I believe that the billions of pounds involved would have been better spent giving the country a 21st Century railway network the entire nation would be proud of.
Upgrading every inch of existing track...
Is there a list/table anywhere of normal scheduled services where a reversal is necessary at some point during the end to end journey?
Would such reversals have been necessary prior to BR getting its butcher knife out in the 50's and Beeching in the 60's?
Impressed by he competition on the ECML with Grand Central often undercutting ECML on routes to Yorkshire. My ultimate destination is Leeds but it is fun to me to take a roundabout route if it works out cheaper than LNER direct. Like Grand Central non-stop KGX to YRK for almost half the fare...
