Lack of "complimentary" catering — any successful legal action?

OP appears unaware of the meaning of "complimentary". Your seat on a train is "complimentary" as the contract with the operator is for him to get you from A to B with availability of a seat possible but not guaranteed. Unless pre-reserved of course.

Changes to the Oyster card deposit in London

Not sure why people seem to believe that TfL can do anything at all in respect of Railcard discounts on Contactless cards. Contactless cards are nothing to do with TFL but remain the property of the issuing bank

Areas that still have night buses?

Is there anywhere outside London that has a genuine (all) Night service. Everywhere I've looked so far, the service consists of two journeys only 1-2 hours apart with nothing at all after 03:00.

Question about the journey experience on LNER 10-car Azuma formations

Two physically separate 5-car units. Are each of the two units fully staffed as separate units. I remember an early morning northbound journey from London to Sheffield on EMT utilizing two separate units in the same way. I was denied a cooked breakfast because I was sitting in the "wrong unit"...

Hypothetical - Advances and Intermediate Stations

Can't see why not if you already have a ticket valid for exit at B (but don't show it to anyone until you exit at B)

Elimination of flat crossing at Retford.

Just wondering how long this seemingly immense task took and how long the ECML was closed for at the time (1965).

Stuck in a seat I don't want and seatfrog with railcard

Hello. I used Seatfrog for the first time recently and was very impressed. A little surprised by your comment about no Railcard discount on your Seatfrog upgrade as you have presumably already had your discount applied on your original ticket. The Seatfrog upgrade price applies to all and you...

    Plusbus e-tickets?

Problem with that is that not all operators in a town or city have compatible readers. For example, Metro in West Yorkshire have a specially priced Weekender ticket valid for all services (Arriva, First, Yorkshire Tiger). If you purchase the ticket on a First bus, it cannot be read on an...

    Ugliest Train in the UK?

Just had a look at a Class 385 for the very first time. How can the weird front cab design even be considered safe? How can the driver possible see anything on his/her right with that obstruction in the way? Why couldn't Hitachi design a conventional proper front cab. Not so much ugly as...

Two 5-car Azuma sets joined together to form one service

I am booked in Coach B departing from King's Cross on one of these joined up Azuma services. Will I be in the rear unit or the front unit? I generally go to the train the very second the platform number finally appears on the board. If I am booked in the rear unit, am I allowed to have a...

    Plusbus Not Offered

Go to you nearest station with a ticket office, show your Southampton ticket and ask for a Southampton PlusBus. £2.40 or £1.60 if you show a valid Railcard. You can buy one for the day you leave Southampton and for the day you arrive back (assuming the dates are different). I do it all the...

    Why's my train late information

Going off topic very slightly, is there a website which shows the entire activity of a unit from it leaves the depot in the morning until it returns at night. For example, first weekday train to Leeds from King's Cross. What does it do before it arrives in the platform to take on its first...
