That would leave Wallyford with no fast bus to the city. All those passengers that have been built up over the last ten years of the service (back to 104 days) will be lost as they won't sit on a 44 for over an hour.
I could potentially see a scenario in which the 124 and X5 swap frequencies, 124 becomes hourly and X5 half hourly, however Presonpans to Musselburgh to Edinburgh is by far the busiest flow of the 124 route and the stops on Lothian Road do a good trade to and from East Lothian, especially in the...
While the discussion in the main thread is going on about potential East Coast Buses alterations, I thought I'd throw my ideas into the ring.
Service X4
Tranent to Haymarket, every hour. Re-routed to serve Edinburgh Road in Tranent, running straight through Dolphingstone to Wallyford. Tranent...
Levenhall would definitely be the best place to curtail the 26 provided a suitable place was found out the way for a layover stop, potentially in the new development at Clark Avenue/Battlefield Drive. That road doesn't look any less unsuitable for a bus than any other housing estate.
It's either £1 or £2 off depending on how far you are travelling. From Haddington to Edinburgh the fare is £4.20, but with a ridacard you only need a ticket to the boundary of zone C/B where the ridacard takes over, so £3.20 is the fare due. From North Berwick to Edinburgh it's £5.20, or £4.20...
You are able to board the bus at Church Road for Dunbar, but you do then have to sit on the bus through the layover at the seabird centre. It's done this way to avoid blocking the stop in the hours when the 121 is also on layover at the same time.
Oh yes they certainly are. There's a big advertising campaign coming up. Correct me but I do believe Lothian Country are the only garage that is currently fully staffed.
172 has been over one of the inside pits at Marine for a good week and a half. It must be a fairly lengthy repair job.
193 appears to have finally settled in after not managing a full day in service for months on end. The suggestion that the three Enviros could be replaced by 195 and 196 IMO is...
Is the plan to return later and fill in the section between Shawfair and Bowshank Tunnel, or are BEMUs to remain on this line long term? Either way it's great to see the construction teams staying busy.
Unfortunately no, the bus would have to stand where it is and passengers transfer onto another service. It then needs two people to be sent out to the bus; one to drive the bus, and another to drive the out of hours driver back to depot.
This route is incredibly popular with tourists at time of year and questions about various destinations are to be expected. Quite often people will attempt to board with a ridacard having not been challenged on the way out, but it has to then be explained that it's not valid this far out and...
They are indeed well used...by schoolchildren. I have had one or two "real" passengers travel on the 125, as you say from Musselburgh, but not on every trip and not in any great numbers, and I've turned away a pair of tourists from a 126 as they were travelling from Gullane to Longniddry, and...
Short of single decks at the moment, so an extra double deck is being used for the X5 instead. And as only four doubles can stay at North Berwick each night it has to come from Musselburgh.
The Eve singles have been struggling so have "borrowed" one from the X7 allocation, so if one of them...
Correct, although first class is at the London end of the train, so you will have to walk the full length of the train to leave platform 2, and then again to the front at platform 5. I believe you can join platform 5 at any point as the fence isn't continuous.
The buses will still be based at Musselburgh, just kept at Marine overnight. Drivers will sign on at Musselburgh depot then they will get some time to make their own way to Marine to pick up the bus, with the opposite happening at night. I believe this will be similar to the arrangement for...
You've certainly done your homework! It's the 106 short journey that goes onto the X4 the rest of the day and I believe the morning 128 goes onto that 124.
In the afternoon, one 106 extra turns into an X6, as does the 126 board. The 127 goes onto the Haddington short X7 as it does currently...
